Does anyone know if there are any time restrictions on having your surgery after flying?
I go away in June, come back on the 2nd of July, it’s a short haul flight between 3.5 and 4hrs..
I am booked in for surgery on the 7th of July?

Worrying now that it’s gonna be an issue?
    Any help please??

They only ever mentioned to me about flying after surgery, nothing about before hand, maybe check with nurse but i cant see why it would be an issue ? x

When i went to meet my PC she did not mention the flying policy. i am coming back from holiday on 23th of May and my operation is on 26th of May. When i met my nurse few days ago she said they have a policy about that. You are not allowed to fly two weeks before the procedure. Something to do with blood clots. I was very not happy with my PC. The nurse contacted with me again, she said that is up to me to go forward, but they wont take resposiblity. She advice to drink a lot of water and walk during the flight. I really did not want to change the date so i agreed.

When I went for my consultation I had three separate holidays booked so had to arrange my surgery to fit in with those dates. The only thing my PC mentioned about flying was not to fly for 4-6 weeks after surgery – nothing about flying before surgery. I flew on 10th October and had my op on 29th October so a fair bit longer than you’re talking about but I was fine nonetheless 🙂 xx

Sorry girls to butt in! I never was told anything about flying either! I’m away currently, and I’m not back until the 18th op is on the 23rd. Also is a 17 hour flight back lol. Hoping all will be okay as like you I’ve planned this date around my boyfriends work and him being able to take me etc and around my home clients x

    Hi
I’m a travel agent to I’m always away and mentioned this to my PC. I had to fit my operation around my holidays as I was advised I could not have my op until 10 days after my holidays because of blood clots etc.
After your operation she said 6 weeks after but mine are both literally 10 days after I land and 6 weeks after my op I fly off again. I would give them a call and see what they say!! Xx

So my operation date has had to be changed, they have a policy that no operations if flying is 2 weeks either side of the operation. Glad in a way cause I wouldn’t want to take the risk, but gutted because it’s now in September, so it’s ages to wait!! Xx

After reading this post I went into mad panic. I have my op book for the 12th July but return from my holiday on the 7th so only a few days between. However I rang the nurse at the Newcastle clinic how had told me there is no restrictions at all for flying before surgery only after. Although this has calmed me a little I’m still worried this will change and my op will be cancelled x

I don’t understand why I’ve been told that MYA have a 2 week policy on flight restrictions of that’s not the same for other clinics? That’s really annoying. Xx
