Freaking out!

Yesterday my patient coordinator Nicola told me that the nurse had signed off all my medical stuff and my surgery which is in 11 days is good to go. I get a phone call this morning from someone called Saffron who I’ve never dealt with before telling me that in fact it hasn’t and until they receive yet another let from a doctor I saw one time 4 years ago my surgeon isn’t happy to operate. Now I can’t get hold of my patient coordinator and I’m freaking out! How the hell is this going to get sorted in 11 days!

I had a similar thing. They sent a letter to my Dr’s asking them to sign off on the surgery. They wouldn’t! They wouldn’t say yes or no! And I was told that without his consent they wouldn’t operate. I made an appointment to see my surgeon again and discussed everything again and he signed me off for the op! They are just trying to pass responsibility to someone else! My surgeon was fab and said there is no way he would operate if he had any concerns. Keep trying to get hold of your coordinator… I’m sure it can be sorted out. Try not to worry! Xx

I had to practically hound my doctors surgery for the auth for my BA.
Mya requested auth the day after my pre op with the nurse at the Newcastle clinic.
First it was just no, , then I had to go into the surgery and pay £10 for the letter” which can take up to three weeks”, that was fine cos it was three weeks till my surgery date.
Then another call from MYA a week later, the doctors were being awkward cos more information was needed an they weren’t prepared to give it without yet another £40!

I had to go in again and pay the money,,,, the letter was sent on the Thursday before my surgery on the Tuesday!
To say I was a bag of nerves is an understatement. There was no need for all the hassle, but I would suggest you speak to your doctor’s yourself and not to loose your rag, cos that doesn’t help either.

I had to call my doctors to get them to reply but after chasing they faxed it to mya 2 days later. I’d recommend ringing the doctors you put down as well as chasing your PC x
