Hi @kieks. I don’t know about not being allowed but the last place I’d have wanted to be on my way home would’ve been on a train. I had to sit in the car the whole way back with a sick bowl and felt really dizzy. You don’t know how well you’ll feel after the op and you won’t want anything coming too close to your boobs. What if someone accidentally pushed past you? And there’s no way you could stand/walk along the train whilst it’s moving, you won’t be able to hold on to anything to steady yourself. I wouldn’t recommend it from my experience xx

Hi Kiera! I was quite naughty and ignored the nurses and took the tube after my op! Mine was in London, It was a friday and when they said I could leave it was the same time as rush hour… So I lied and told them I would take an Uber and my boyfriend and I jumped on the tube instead. I honestly felt fine, if a little delicate and sore, and I argued with my boyfriend that it would be quicker and smoother then an hour and a half stuck in central London traffic stopping and starting every few seconds!
It turned out to be a great idea, with my boyfriend blocking anyone from coming near me (the idea of someone bumping into me was horrible!) and he had to hold onto my shoulders very tightly as the slight jolt of the tube would make my boobs bounce and would cause them to ache.
But then half way in I started to feel veeeerrry dizzy and veeeerrry nauseous! I went super pale and the group of lovely french guys opposite me starting desperately trying to find empty bags and water for me!! I was stubborn and stayed on the tube as we only had a few stops but it was a huge relief to get off and I had to stop a few times to stop my dizziness on my walk home from the station.
You dont really know how you’re going to feel after your op, I think I would have been fine if I wasnt on the claustrophobic underground, if it wasnt rush hour, and packed with people but I would have much preferred to have driven. Even if I just waited in the hospital for an extra hour or so for the traffic to die down. I guess I would say see how you feel and have a back up plan if you dont think you can take the train.
I agree with thinking it would be more comfortable then driving – no seat belts, no sharp corners, no sudden stopping and starting – but take in account the time of day and what your options are if you do come over unwell! (Not everyone feels unwell, I only felt sick whilst I was on the tube, before and after that I was fine!) Good luck what ever you decide – Just definitely dont take the tube haha!! Xx

suppose ive not really thought about it properly and thought it would just be easier to get train not thinking about the possibility it could be really busy and stuff.. silly me ! hahah it was just the fact a train is a smooth ride whereas cars can be bumpy and all that so thought it would be painful and i dont like the idea of being in a car for over 1 hour .. but thanks alot for replying its made me realise its not such a good idea to get a train xx

My recovery from my first op was brutal, I also could barely walk without nearly passing out, I had a sick bowl on the way home, every bump or speed bump hurt so much and I couldn’t even have the music on in the car coz it made me feel so bad.
I was really shocked as people said recovery was great etc, I def didn’t think I would be any different sonjust be prepared for all outcomes.
My second op however I recovered amazing xxx

Kiera I think all the above has made me and you realise a train is no good. I live hour and half away but hoping to take a less bumpy car. I did think I was going to stay in a hotel but now thinking I’d rather just get home and rest in my bed the next day rather then worry about check out. That day will be the most painful. X

I thought about getting on the train after surgery. Overground from Euston & only about 25 minutes away … I had saved for some time towards my surgery (done on Monday, 350cc unders)

Because I needed a chaperone & was being funny (just wanted to be on my own) I booked a car to drive me home to my front door. Was expensive (£120) & money I wouldn’t have normally spent but I’m glad I did. Was easy & although I felt really well considering I’d just had major surgery … Plus the driver put my stuff in the car and then into the house for me which was a bonus.
