    Hi ladies.

I know I’m best asking my surgeon but I was wondering if anyone went on holiday abroad around 6 weeks after their op – I’m wondering whether you were advised not to get your new boobs wet – I’ve read mixed responses about not getting the incision area wet to not being advised against it.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience?

I was told that a short haul flight after 4 weeks and a long haul flight after 6 weeks was okay. Also, I was told that I shouldn’t get my incisions wet for at least 6 weeks, so no submerging in a bath or swimming until I have passed that point. My nurse has advised that she will tell me at my 6 week post op appointment whether she is happy for me to resume these activities, depending on how well my healing is going by that point. My best advice would be to schedule your 6 week post op appointment for just before your holiday so that you can get your incisions checked out just before you go and gain clinical advice with regards to whether you are healed enough to get them wet yet.

Thanks for your response. Yeah you’re right. I go exactly 6 weeks to the day so I’ll get my appointment as close to then as possible.

I think in most cases 6 weeks should be long enough but as everybody heals at different rates I suppose it’s always better to check before you chance it!

As well as what others have said, no underwire until 12 weeks so any bikinis need to be non wired!

I’m going on holiday 6 weeks PO. It was booked after my original surgery date which was cancelled and postponed by 4 weeks so I asked about the holiday before I said yes to the next date. I’ve been told I can’t go swimming or go in the sea .. or to expose the scars to the sun.. which I wouldn’t anyway. But she recommended I wear a T-shirt. I won’t, but will wear a swimsuit instead of bikini. I’m quite happy with that anyway as it means my daughter and OH can go and play in the water park and I can sit on a sun lounger and catch up on some reading with a cocktail or two ?

@Lauren thanks so much for your reply. She had a feeling those would be the rules which I’m pretty gutted about to be honest (not going in pool/sea) but I understand why. I’ll just relaxin on a sun lounger! Chances are we’ll do quite a bit of exploring anyway so hopefully I won’t be missing out too much on going in the pool/sea.
