I’m deciding if having surgery is for me at the moment, and I am a huge worrier.
    1. About going under
    2. About waking up and not liking them
    3. About getting shooting pains and the side effects connected to having the surgery

Can anyone who’s also had these same thoughts tell me how you got through it ?
    Thanks x

I was super worried about going under as i never had before, but honesty i was worried over nothing, 1 second your talking to the nurses and bam you’re waking up in recovery, there’s also a nurse whos job is purely to watch your pulse etc. So theres 0% chance you could wake up during surgery,
In my opinion when i woke up I couldn’t give a damn about how they looked as i was so sleepy and out of it and they never look great straight away, but when i got my bandages off a week later I couldn’t of been happier!
Recovery for me was rough but i would still do it all over again, i did get lots of shooting pains but they’re actually a sign that they’re healing so it’s good:) x

Hi Tessa, I’m a huuuuge worrier myself. I’m on anti anxiety meds because I suffer from panic attacks and I was terrified that that’s what was going to happen when going under and that my surgery could even be cancelled because of me freaking out! I’ve never been put to sleep before, I was terrified and even asked my anaesthetist if I’m definitely not going to die and that I’m really scared. They do cheer you up a little bit but gosh, I was worried for WEEKS prior to the surgery. Had maybe 3hs of sleep 2 nights before my op date. I honestly wish I could go back in time and REALLY tell myself that going under wasn’t nowhere near as terrifying as i thought it would be. It’s weirdly a very pleasant feeling, almost like you’re drunk and then boom! You’re awake in the recovery room feeling all dizzy and slightly confused. I know for sure I will never be scared of general anaesthetic ever again! And as when it comes to boobs – make sure you research the surgeon! Im only 2 days post op and honestly I’m already in love! The pain is annoying but it’s definitely manageable with the painkillers they give you. I’m supposed to be in my worst stage now (2-3 days post op) and honestly it’s still not super bad. I hope you feel better about your fears, i totally understand how overwhelming it is xx

    Hi Ladies,

If you are worried about having a general anaesthetic we suggest watching our videos with MYA anaethesist Dr Vagnov on YouTube. He answers lots of patient’s FAQs and describes the process of being put to sleep. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIp-y2AxCW0

    Love MYA mod xx
