Hi ladies!
I’ve had my consultation, surgeon consultation, pre op and surgery is all booked for the 8th Feb however Ive seen a few posts about a GP letter? I suffered with anxiety for 1 month back in 2018 and this will be on my medical record… MYA haven’t said anything about needing a GP letter as of yet.
Should I expect MYA to request a letter from my GP? trying to see if I can arrange this early before they ask.
Thank you xxx
Yes they will ask (they did with me anyway).
My GP was a pain in the butt to get one from too so definitely get one ASAP just in case – I think I sent it to MYA about 2 weeks before the surgery in the end!
I’ve seen these too! What does the letter say exactly?
I was on antidepressants for a few months in 2017 does that mean I’d have to have a letter too?
Xx
Hi Natalie… what exactly should I ask for exactly? just permission that I’m fit to go ahead for the surgery? and hi Sophie yeah im pretty certain they’ll ask if you have any anxiety/depression on your medical record xx
Hi All,
I asked this same question with one of the MYA co-ordinators and she did say that they need at least 5 year records of everything.
I went for my pre op consultation with my nurse a week before the op and she asked for the letter as well.
I would strongly recommend getting it asap from your doctor as they have to review any medication etc.
Just literally ask for your medical records from the past 5 years and say that you need them by a specific date for an upcoming operation (you dont have to disclose what op) … because otherwise, they will probably drag their feet with it xx
hello, I have my pre-op booked for the 20th and my op on the 16th feb. Mya asked me to get a summary of my medical records from my gp as soon as I could. I rang my GP today and they emailed me this afternoon which was so fast and I just uploaded it to my portal. Hope you manage to get your medical record quickly xx
Hi sorry for late reply!
They wanted a brief medical history so I called my GP and asked for exactly that. They sent a summary of everything I’ve been to the GP for to prove I think that I gave all honest answers about my health and that I was fit enough to go ahead with the surgery.
Definitely do it ASAP!
Good luck.
Does mya not just request a summary or is something that we havent to do no one said nothing to me
The information is quite ambiguous as I assumed MYA were going to contact the surgery as well? but my PC told me that I had to request a copy of my GP summary myself, and upload it to the portal, or send it to her and she will upload. I asked my GP for it and they were hesitant but I was persistent so they ended up printing off a copy. So I uploaded it to the portal, and have it in an envelope ready for my nurse pre-op x
