My surgery is in 4 days, and my GP has written a letter to my surgeon as I am on sertraline for anxiety.. this is the wording…
“I can confirm X is currently taking sertraline 50mg to treat her anxiety disorder. She struggles with work related stress. She is currently doing well and finds the medication helpful. I have had a conversation with her today regarding breast augmentation surgery. She tells me this is something she has been contemplating for a long time and feels ready for this surgery. The decision as to proceed with this whilst on sertraline would lie with the operating surgeon”
Do you think the surgeon will accept this? im running short on time and really stressed.
Hey hun, how long have you been on sertraline and when was the dose last adjusted. Mine said I had to wait 6 months from either starting or changing dose. I’m now currently 13 days PO X
I’ve been on it for a while (started it over a year ago and had a break and back on now since Xmas) but the surgeon still required a doctors note… so I’m not exactly sure what they wanted it to say!
That should be fine then. It’s mainly making sure that your Dr isn’t really worried about you and that you’re settled on medication for 6 months (or more.) good luck for your surgery x
My doctor says that the letter isnt good enough and has cancelled my surgery 🙁
That’s so strange. I’ve seen your other post and I had CBT and I’m on the same tablets and dose as you and I had surgery 2 weeks ago. I would ask MYA what evidence they need to go ahead x
Hi there, this is sad to hear! When I had my eConsult the other day, my patient co-ordinator mentioned I might need some form of counselling to assure the surgeon I am ok to have surgery!! I understand the requirement to cover ones back, but, the fact I’d need to pay for said counselling session(s) is an absolute joke. Even if this is potentially deducted from my procedure price.
I am on sertraline and have been for some years now, I am in the best place I’ve been in many years, and the very fact they want to put me through some form of counselling is quite concerning, and I am considering going with another company.
Does anyone have any advice at all?
Thank you ladies x
Did you have ur surgery I am worried about this booked my surgery I told my nurse she said they shouldn’t be nothing to worry about x
Hi, did anyone have to have the counselling session? I have a consultation and I’ve been off anti depressants and anti anxiety medication since November 2022 but was told I either needed a letter from my GP or to have a counselling session (priced at £120) and was told the counselled would sign me off?
Seems weird and a bit of a tick box exercise?
Omg I’m concerned now. I got put on sertraline like a month ago just changed from citalopram. Literally feel best I have in years. Gonna speak to my dr tomorrow anyway. Got my first online consultation tomorrow. Will also ask nurse. What dr was supposed to be doing ur surgery??
Did you get your surgery?
