Hi girls I’m hoping some of you may be able to calm me down!
I am due to have my surgery mid August with Mr Netri and I’m so excited. I have given the details of my GP practice to MYA and also sent the referral letter off but I’ve not heard anything back yet. I have no underlying medical conditions and I’m not on any medication but just wondering whether we hear if the GP letter has been received and is all okay for my surgery to go ahead? Everything is in place for my surgery and the thought of anything ruining that scares me!
Just would love to hear from girls post op about whether I should be worrying about this or just leave it down to MYA to sort out and take care of? Xx
Hi Emily. I signed consent for my records to be released (I am not with MYA) however my provder wrote to my GP direct and my GP advised i needed to pay £25 for release of my records which i did, they then issued my records to my provider straight away. This all happened to me last week and my surgery is next Sunday…cutting it fine I know, but all got sorted. If you are in doubt at all ring your patient coordinator, that is what they are there for. I have hounded mine haha she will be sick of me! xxx
Have you had your pre op appointment? I took a copy of my gp letter with me for the nurse. However my GP wasn’t sending the letter to Mya themselves, I had to collect and then also email a copy.
I would say try to get a copy of the letter and email it to your personal consultant
Ring you doctors and ask if they have your letter off mya mine was a nightmare to get off my doctor drove me insane I had to ring daily to ask of the doctor would reply to say I’m fit for surgery
I am also worried about this. My op is 2 weeks today and my doctors just keep saying they haven’t received anything from mya. When mya are saying they have sent it over twice.
I’m panicking as it is and now this is making my more worried that my op will get cancelled xx
Hi I had a panic about this like 4 days before my op because I’ve heard of it delaying some girls surgery etc so rang the clinic and they said I didn’t actually need a gp letter as I have no medical concerns or on any medication etc so they never requested one, chances are if they have no concerns over you they won’t even need one so I was panicking over nothing lol speak to your pc to double check and put your mind at rest xx
Thanks girls I will contact the GP on Monday and talk to my PC when I see her on Tuesday xx
Defo ask your pc Emily because if they don’t receive your letter off gp if requested then they will cancel your op and you may not even realise until days or even hours before the op
I got a letter about a week later from my gp saying mya asked for my info but i need to pay £25 for it to be released x
Mine was a nightmare. Mya contacted my GP however my gp phoned them and said ‘I don’t have time to write a letter but she can have the surgery there are no problems’ – thinking that was enough! I then had to chase up my gp and go backwards and forwards between Mya and my gp until they sent a letter! MYA phoned me to tell me they hadn’t received a letter though- if you’re unsure just call x
Mya rang me a few days before my op saying they hadn’t heard from my gp so I had to ring the docs surgery to make sure it was sent.. stressed me out so much
Hi girls update on the referral letter. Just had a text from MYA telling me to ring the GP surgery and pay their fee and then they will get a doctor to send to MYA. Hopefully they sort this in time as my surgery is 3 weeks today but thank goodness something’s happening! Xx
Hello! Is everyone required to get a letter from their GP to say they’re fit to have surgery or is it only if you have a particular past medical history? I have my operation on the 29th of August and my PC hasn’t mentioned anything at all to do with my GP apart from asking for my NHS number! x
Hi Hun grey ask for your NHS number so they can request your medical history and letter to say you fit for surgery you don’t need to get the doc to sent one mya do it for you or they did with me xxxx
Hi Stacey, ah thank-you! That has given me peace of mind!! 🙂 xxxx
I’m worrying about this more than the op itself. My doctors surgery is not the best to say the least, and I called them to say to expect it, and they didn’t even take any details of me, just said yes we’ll look out for it.. they don’t even know it’s for me! I’ve just got a horrible feeling as they are usually useless that this will be the one thing to mess this up for me, I’ve wanted this so long and would be devastated if my op got cancelled because they are incompetent x
