Ive just been to say dr traynor and he said theres an 80% chance the anesthetist wont agree to my surgery because i have a heart murmor. I am so devastated 🙁 im also furious that i have getting this far without anyone thinking it would be a problem. I told my PC on my first meeting she said it would be fine and also my doctors notes have been sent which has been looked over from the nurse and she didnt seem the flag anything up. Now i just have to wait for traynor to send my notes over to the anesthatist to see what they say.

oh no that’s terrible, cant believe no one has said it may be a problem before this point 🙁 fingers crossed the anesthatist will agree and you can go ahead with the surgery, when are you due to have the op xxx

How horrible! It’s awful getting your hopes up for something and them going about like it’s going to be fine to go ahead. Hopefully the anaesthetist will agree to go ahead with the op, I can’t see why not though because the op itself on,y takes 45 minutes it’s not like major surgery where you would be out for hours. I think it should be fine! Fingers crossed Xxxxxxx

Oh no!! Some clinics (not sure if MYA do it) will do sedation ad local anaesthetic, maybe you could look into that?

My traynor said because its a cosmetic hospital and not a proper hospital they wont have cardiologists or doctors at hand if anything were to go wrong. I dont think they are insured to complete surgery on people with certain problems as he said its not somthing MYA would usually let go ahead or somthing 🙁

It wouldnt be so bad if it was nipped in the bud when i first explained about it, i wouldnt have been so excited about it all but because nothing was mention since they got my medical notes i assumed all was ok. Traynor said places like spire and bupa hospitals are more likely to operate as they have doctors on hand so i may have a look into them xx

I have a heart murmur and mr traynor did my op 4 weeks ago at first trust hospital. I was discharged though a few years ago and the anaesthetist did come and ask me a few questions about it but was happy enough. I didn’t have to send doctors notes etc. Hope it all works out for you! So maddening that you’ve got this far with no mention of it! Xx

@danielle101 oh really? I wonder why there is such a problem on my end then. Ive been discharged and had a 5 year check up in january to say its just the same as it was before. Guess i will just have to wait and see :/ xx

Hi Sophy that’s like me but I had fluid around my heart even tho I got the all clear. Mr traynor wouldn’t operate but he recommended me a surgeon who works at spire and I got it done there coz it was a proper hospital incase anything went wrong but thankfully it went ok

Oh if you’ve been discharged I can’t see what the problem is?! I’ve had 2 heart surgeries when I was younger to correct it and I was honest and told them everything and they said it was fine because I’d been discharged! I thought the nurse would send me for an ecg to be clear but she didn’t xx

Hiya Sophie, I know it must be really disappointing to be told by the surgeon that he won’t do it, but it shows how professional Dr Traynor is. He is right not to do it if there are any serious risks to your health. He has not said you can’t have a BA, he has just given you good advice that with your heart condition you need to have it done in a hospital with the full support there if anything happened whilst you were under anaesthetic. He is saying Mya don’t offer that full level of medical support. He could have just said yes to you, put you at serious risk for the money, but he didn’t, he gave you very good professional advice.
I am sure you will find a great surgeon who will do it for you in hospital and you will feel peace of mind that you are getting it done in the right place.
Good luck finding the right surgeon and you can still stay on this forum even if you have it done somewhere else, there are other girls on here who did not have their op at mya. xx

Ive stayed off this forum while i waited for the decision from the anaesthetist.

GOOD NEWS it can go ahead!!! it took so long for the decision as MYA had to ask the specific anaesthetist who was assigned to me on the day of surgery which doesn’t get released until a few weeks before. So now i have 23 days until my op and meeting with Traynor again next Thursday so he can asses me properly and recommend size and shape etc
