Hi everyone, long time follower but first time poster. I enjoy reading other stories, so hopefully my post will be good for others to read too 🙂
I had my surgery outside of MYA but this is the only forum I know of where I can discuss things :/ but anyway, I had my surgery under local with sedation and I’ve had 375cc anotomical over the muscle. I was already a C cup to begin with. I used to be a 32DD but then they began to disappear as I got older and then again after my daughter and my body has changed ect ect. I had my surgery late this morning and I was on my way home around 2:30pm. So it was a nice quick visit. I’m currently wrapped in that horrible sticky tape stuff, I’m looking forward to having it removed!! At the mo I can’t see what they really look like and I have Madonna cones ? but I’m happy with the size of them.
They’re a little painful, more so on one side and it hurts to lift my arms or push myself up (on the sofa ect), but it’s a bearable pain. I have codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen to take. Hoping to be a little more mobile tomorrow afternoon (I imagine tomorrow morning will be sore like the morning after a workout!!!), so I’ll post some photos then 🙂 I don’t have any before photos though. My surgeon took some so I might ask for those when I see him tomorrow. I have to go back tomorrow as I had a reaction to something they used earlier and they’re worried I might have a funny reaction to the sticky tape stuff, so want to check it. Also, I’m dealing with the end of a cold. So apparently that makes me more susceptible to fever and infection, so they want to make sure I’m alright. I feel ok though! Oh and I didn’t have drains after surgery and I don’t have to wear a sports bra, only if I want to if I feel I need the extra support as apparently this tape does enough. But once the dressing comes off I can either wear a sports bra or, I’ve been told, I can just wear a snug vest top. Nothing too restricting. Which I was surprised at as most other companies make you wear a sports bra. But I’m no expert and just doing as I’ve been told. If I’m honest, I’ll just go with what my body tells me and do what I feel right.
Anyway, that’s my story for today 🙂 I’ll post some photos when I can! L x
Welcome and congrats Lauren ?
Can’t wait for your photos.
How long do you need to wear that tape for? Xx
Congrats on the new girls! You’re so lucky not having the drains they really hurt when they had to be removed I’m slightly jealous of that lol
Hopefully you don’t have too much soreness to deal with and glad for you it sounds like everything went pretty smoothly! Looking forward to the updates! Xx
Thank you for the comments 🙂
Monica, I believe for a week. I go back at the end of next week to have them removed. I wish I could take it off now though as it’s reqlky quite stiff stuff and is digging in to me.
Last night was alright, I didn’t sleep brilliantly and getting up to go for a wee was the worst thing ever as I was cold and began shivering which hurt like hell but I couldn’t control it!!
Pain wise overall, I’m ok if 1. I don’t move too much and 2. The pain relief (codeine and ibuprofen mostly) kick in. I’ve watched loads of you tube videos and read post-op stories and it’s funny how it barley bothers some. I was expecting it to be painful but I’m not sure I was expecting it to hurt me as much as it does. Anyway, sleep. I slept propped up on three pillows for most of the night but found myself practically lying flat every time I woke up so had to keep pushing myself back up which is really difficult ? I’d love nothing more than to lie on my side right now!
Jenna, I was really worried about drains as a friend of mine had hers done a few weeks ago and had to go home with the drains and keep them for three days, she said that was awful. So before I had my surgery I spoke to the nurses and asked about it as no one had spoken to me about aftercare, so when I found out that they don’t use them, I was really relieved.
I’m still in bed now. But due to get up and ready soon for the hospital appointment! Ugh. Wish I could stay in bed all day..
Sounds like you’re really suffering now… Take as many pills as you are allowed to in order to ease the pain. The night sleep is very important for your own comfort but also for healing so hope it is going to be just better from now on and you can get a proper sleep eventually.
Good luck with your appointment xx
Congratulations Lauren, hope you have a speedy recovery x
Honestly the first night is always the most awkward and uncomfortable. It gets better from here!
Finally got around to taking some photos. Well, a couple. I’m terrible. This is me today, one week post op and today I’ve had everything removed and saw them properly for the first time. Really weird seeing these big things on my chest, it wasn’t so strange when I couldn’t see them as it was almost like wearing my big padded bras all the time.. but these are actually ME!!!
My right side (your left) is still really swollen compared to the other and is most painful. But overall I’m really happy with them, they’re just the size I had in mind 🙂 Also on another note, I’m finally feeling like myself again and not in much pain now, unless I over do it or use muscles around that area.
Things I miss lots at the mo, deep baths and proper showers (although get to wet the scars next week) and lying on my side at bedtime. Things I’m loving at the mo, not working or having to do much around the house ? although, not being able to vacuum is driving me crazy as my OH likes to miss the edges!
Wow Lauren they look really big! You must be thrilled! Glad you are starting to feel a bit better now too!
They do look big on the photo … not sure they’re particularly big in real life though. I measured myself the other day and was measuring at an E, so I’m assuming I’ll most likely go down to a DD thereabouts once the swelling has gone down. Which is what I asked for. Don’t want to look like I’ve had it done, just happy to look like I did with the big bras without the faff of big bras!! 🙂
Lauren they look really good! You did very well during the first week.
They do look big to me already, plus they may probably get even bigger.
Enjoy your lazy time off work and things you were not able to do last days xx
Hi Lauren! Can I ask where you got your BA I want BA too and I thought of MYA first but I want to make sure I’ve made the right choice…
That’s amazing that you’re measuring as an E already! That’s an excellent result! I do think that they may get bigger as they drop and fluff more. I haven’t been measured yet but I would be thrilled with that. I keep hoping that mine might settle a little bit more so I am putting it off until I hit 6 weeks post op!
