For all those who followed my previous post and for those getting a BA or with any concerns I want to post my story!

Day of op (15th): Waited 5 hours at Preston till op, everyone was lovely there so kind and helpful. There was a delay due to the previous patient but it was no hassle. Op took around and hour and then I woke up and was wheeled back to my room. I felt rather drunk from the anaesthetic but ate and drank no problems as well as going for a wee! Stayed at a hotel in Preston over night and got a 2 hour train home the next morning. Stiff but ok.

PO day 1: Felt fine on the train home managed to do my makeup, eat drink and only to Ibuprofen for the pain. Felt absolutely fine other than stiff and slightly sore.

PO day 2 (Problems begin): My worst day by far! Woke up stiff and sore but felt fine kept icing my breast and only on Ibuprofen. I start to feel sick and nauseous and my right boob completely stiffens up and practically doubles in size. I go to bed and take 2 co- cocodamol. I wake up 20 minutes later in searing pain, feels like my right boob is on fire. When I sit up it kills my incisions and I’m crying. Cannot even touch my boob to ice it’s so painful. I ring my clinic with no answer so ring the emergency line. Then nurse says it’s normal and gets me to send her photos anyway and ice and take drugs. After sending photos she suggests I visit my surgeon 2 hours away in Nottingham for a consultation. An impossible task as I cannot sit up and the clinic would close after the 2-3 hours there on public transooort and the fact I couldn’t sit up without being in tears. Instead I head to a walk in clinic at 6:30 to get Tramadol and proceed to be sick all night.

POD3 (My Birthday!): I kept in contact with the emergency nurse Lauren this whole time (absolute star) and she suggests even though I am feeling better that I still visit my surgeon in Preston on Monday (yesterday). I book in for 2pm. I have a chilled out Birthday and continue taking Tramadol even though it makes me very nauseous and sick.

POD4 (Review/Reop): Right breast is slightly softer but no where near perfect. Felt slightly begrudging to spend £70 and 5 hours travelling for a review! By the time I get to the hospital I am put in a room but not admitted. Dr mounir visits feels my breast and suggests he wants to put me under, open up my breast and investigate further. He says any other time he wouldn’t bother but as it’s Christmas he doesn’t want me ill. So I am admitted, paperwork done and within 45 minutes am being anaethetised. It takes me much longer to come round this time and I’m super sleepy and need extra oxygen for around an hour. I find out I have had a new implant placed in, the breast cleaned out due to a haematoma. After 3 hours I am fine and released to get the train home.

POD5 (today): I am feeling fine. My right breast is much less ‘frankenboob’, not painful at all and in fact softer than my left breast. I am back on cocordamol. I have a breast band this time in addition to my macom. My clinic nurse rang to check up on me and I have my week PO appointment tomorrow to see her. My left boob is pretty hard now but I’m hoping that’s normal and no complications. It’s no where near as bad as the other one POD 2.

Please girls don’t be afraid to ring a nurse, ring the emergency number and get checked out if you are worried. Please don’t be in pain if you are unsure or scared. It is far better to be safe than sorry!

Don’t worry Ally! 99% of people are fine, it was just typical that I wasn’t. I just want people to be extra careful! I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine x

I’m glad you got it resolved and that everything is going okay now for you.
We’re you advised to take ibuprofen as pain relief immediately post op? I was told not to as it causes your blood to thin and can result in a bleed. Xx

Hi Imogen yes I was but maybe that’s what’s caused me problems! Quite concerning if they are giving that advice out and it ended up causing me such a major problem! Xx

I don’t know whether that alone would have caused such a serious problem but from what I understand I don’t think it would have helped the situation. At least it’s sorted but I would probably stay off the ibuprofen until 2WPO and stick to paracetamol if you’re not taking the prescribed meds. Xx
