So it’s been a year since I had my op so I thought I’d share my boob journey with you all…

After years of being self-conscious about the size of my small boobs (32A) last year I decided to take the plunge and book a consultation with MYA at my local Bristol clinic. My PC was super friendly and made me feel at ease straight away, we had a chat and talked through my expectations of the surgery, the procedure itself, cost, surgeons, medical history etc. and I left feeling well informed, excited and confident about my choice to go with MYA. It all moved quite quickly from there. I booked to see my chosen surgeon (Mr. Marcellino) a few weeks later but between that time I scheduled my operation as a late space as I was 100% certain this was what I wanted and had a lot of flexibility with work. At my appointment Mr. Marcellino must have only looked at me for 30 seconds before he told me the options available, he recommended 275, 300 or 325cc round mod plus unders which would take me to around a C cup. I also had my nurses appointment the same day as this because my op day wasn’t too far away. She was super helpful and answered all of my questions, gave me lots of information to read through about aftercare and how I should prepare before my surgery.

Finally Op day came around and I was a mixture of excited and nervous. I had to be at MYA Fitzroy in London for 7.30am and was quickly shown to my room and asked to put on the very flattering hospital gown, paper pants, socks and slippers. Mr. Marcellino came in a while later to draw on me and confirm size, he suggested 300cc as it would the most natural. I went down to theatre at around 11am and before I knew it I was being woken up in recovery. The surgery went as planned but I wasn’t discharged till 6pm as my blood pressure was a bit low and they wanted to keep an eye on me.

The first week after the surgery was a bit of a painkiller induced blur. I didn’t realise how much you use your chest muscles or how useless I’d be at doing everything, I couldn’t even get myself a drink. Sleeping was the most difficult part for me as I usually only sleep on my stomach which I obviously couldn’t do but having a V pillow helped so much. I had my first nurses check up on Day 6 Post Op when all my strapping was taken off and my stitches were removed. I had some issues with my right incision, there was a little bit of infection but my nurse was great and I must have seen her about 7 times in the first 4 weeks. At 12 Weeks Post Op I had my appointment with Mr. Marcellino who said they looked great, my body had accepted the implants really nicely and signed me off.

Since then I’ve had some serious emotional ups and downs. For ages my scars were very dark and way too low (as you can see in the picture). I wore the band they gave me for about 5 months to try to help them drop but it didn’t seem to work. I was super upset about how my boobs looked, I hated looking at them and I even started to regret getting them done. Slowly but surely they did begin to drop, even at 8 months my boobs were still sat pretty high and it wasn’t until month 10 that they started to look and feel like natural boobs and I started to feel happy with showing them off. I got measured at 6 months and was told I was a 32C, I went to same place at 10 months and was told I was a 32DD (even though they really don’t look it!). Sometimes now I feel flat-chested but only have to look at my before pictures to realise how much bigger they actually are! Now only after a year I can say I am so happy with how they have turned out, you can still kind of see the scars but I know they will continue to fade. It took me a while to love them but now I can 100% say I don’t regret getting them done, I feel so much more confident. I’m happy to go out not wearing a bra, actually I prefer not wearing one! I don’t mind wearing a bikini and I’m not spending ridiculous amounts of money on bras with triple boost padding!

It’s been an emotional rollercoaster but my best advice for anyone is to be patient – I know its super hard because you want them to look perfect straight away but everyone’s body is different and will heal differently, just look at mine!

Hi Charlotte, thankyou for reposting a year after surgery, its great to hear how you have adjusted to your new boobs. I am taking it that patience is really important and relax and know that they will become more natural as time goes on. you look really good, they look very natural and in proportion to your body.
thanks for posting and happy boob birthday xx

Happy birthday to your amazing boobies. I’ve been questioning having mod plus unders. But yours a absolutely perfect. That is boobies goals right there. Well done for sharing your experience, its a reminder that the end results takes time. But yours were definitely worth the wait, they look so natural xx
