I got the note from the surgeon which was all good and now the hr lady at my work is asking for doctors note. I’m getting one tomorrow hoping they won’t state what give had done as I haven’t told my work! Do you think the doctor will do a note that hasn’t mentioned what I’ve had done?
I’ve booked a week annual leave from the day of my surgery I work for the NHS and cosmetic surgery doesn’t come under sick atall as it is elective, it was is either annual leave or time or without pay! Which is only fair really xxx
Regardless of whether your operation is elective or not, once you are out of surgery you are not fit for work and your GP will give you a note to say that. They won’t be specific about what you’ve had done unless you want them to be.
You don’t have to provide a sick note or fit to work note as they are called for the first 7 days. Check on the gov.uk website about sickness from work. It’s called self certificate. After those 7 days your employer can request a fit to work note and your GP or the nurses can offer that. The nurse when I was going home offered to write me a note but I chose to take 2 weeks holiday from work so I didn’t disclose to my employer what I had been thru.
