From reading other people’s progress some people are not able to lift their children up for at least a week – I have kids but much older. My 6 year daughter asked daddy when could she give me a cuddle, made me feel quite sad 🙁 xx

I have two very similar in age to yours and I was absolutely fine, I could lift them up even the same day. It’s unavoidable, it’s the thought of it more than anything cause you don’t wanna do any damage and it made me so paranoid. but at that age they need lifting, changing, etc so really can’t be helped. I just took help whenever I could get it (which wasn’t much but it was very helpful) x you will be ablsolutely fine xxxxxxx

I get my BA on Tuesday, I have a 7 month old and a 2 year old, I’m really nervous now about how it’s going to work with me out of action for a while x

I have an 11 month old and had my op 2 weeks ago. My Partner did everything for the first week but I could do much more by week 2. We’ve both had two weeks off work so I’ve been lucky to avoid lifting him so far but will be back to normal duties next week. Worse part for me was not being able to get him when he was crying and pushing the buggy is difficult but as long as you have a bit of help the first week you’ll be fine. X

Hi, I had mine 3 weeks ago tomorrow and have 3 children 11, 5 and 1. The first few days are the worst. I over did it quite a lot the second day and developed a haematoma from lifting too much too soon. My advice is to rest completely for a week especially if you are in a lot of pain. The pain killers will help with the pain but try not to do too much just because it’s not hurting you. I was lifting saucepans from high shelves and overdoing it generally because it wasn’t hurting and I felt fine. You know your own body and capabilities better than anyone but just take advantage of sitting back and letting your partner or family help out. You’ll be able to get back into it once you are feeling better. By day 4 I was sleeping better and the pain was bearable until my little set back (it’s very rare an only occurs in a small percentage of BA) I know it was down to doing to much on day 2…my own fault. Good luck in June…it’s all worth it hun!!

I have a 2 year old and i’m being really honest, its such a struggle! It strains me to even lift a pint of milk up nevermind a 2 year old! Luckily, i’m off work for 2 weeks and have really good support. I dont dare risk picking my little one up anytime soon!
