Hi any girls had problems with their heart and had the op still? Any problems with anesthetic.
I have been having fast heart beat and breathlessness. I spent 9 hours in hospital yesterday had ecgs on monitor, blood tests lung X-ray etc. everything came back normal but still don’t feel right. I woke three times in the night with racing heart.
GPS think it’s anxiety but I’m panicking. My op is booked for the 25th, paid for . I can’t lose the money and really want the op but don’t want to die on operating table! Or is that me being dramatic?
I don’t know what to do I’ve already had my pre op so what should I do.
I’m panicking and really upset.
hya hun wow cant believe ur same as me spent 5 hours In a and e with chest pain (I have had issues before with a heart murmour nothing serious though) I think it could very well be nerves and excitement…I too had ECG X-ray and bloods, and everything was normal now im much more relaxed ive had a thorough check, andby the sounds so have you…relax hun we are in good health….its just emotions coming out 🙂 hope this puts u at ease xx
Oh thanks but I still don’t feel much better. But maybe I am stressing more than I need to.
It’s horrible though. I thought once I came home after a full check I’d feel more at ease! I can’t even go in to work today!
Hopefully it will ease soon. Was your hospital visit after the preop? Just wondering if need another Mrsa swab ?
I had to cancel my pre op last wed as my kiddies were unwell, so its now this Wednesday, honestly though if there was something wrong you would have been told, bloods show if theres a problem…you can get palpitations and fast heart beat from anxiety and panic attacks, ask your gp for diazepam for a few days if you can, it will come the anxiety hun xxx
It’s just so scary never had anything like this before! It’s overwhelming.
I was put on an antidepressant four days ago for anxiety although mentally I feel fine!,!!! One of the side effects can be palpitations. So going back to doc today but just don’t want the op cancelled.
im no doctor, but coming from someone whos had all sorts in life, it doesnt sound like you need anti depressants….very different symptoms with depression hun, you really just something for the anxiety to take the edge off…calm all those symptoms….not anything esle hun, ring your gp and explain you only need something to calm the anxiety. head wise your fine. you dont want your file tarnished with depression if you have not suffered it. xx
I suffered from anxiety for a long time which caused me to have panic attacks, these could last from a few minutes to hours. I had an extremely fast heart rate (100bpm and over) on a regular basis and it felt like heart problems. However after countless blood tests, ECGs etc it was purely caused by anxiety. Xx
Antidepressants are prescribed as they help with anxiety which is caused by an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. The medicine helps to control this however you could ask your doctor to put you on beta blockers instead as these slow down the heart rate. xx
I’m an A&E nurse it sounds like u have anxiety and what u may be experiencing is anxiety attacks. Ask ur GP to prescribe u some propranolol, it’s a beta blocker, it helps u calm down, decreases ur heart rate and reduces the anxious feeling! U don’t need anti depressants! Xx
lol you girls just said what I said too…anxiety is hard to spot unless youve seen or gone through first hand. I think she should just go to gp now. on a brighter note, can I add you 2 girls if I dont already have you 🙂 mines 3 weeks away with dr singh eek thanks X x
Yeah course 🙂 xx
Thanks girls for your support. Just had good chat with gp and said all indicators are anxiety as everything is clear.
Unfortunately I can’t take beta blockers as I have mild asthma and these make me wheezy plus I actually have low blood pressure which they lower further and knock me for six!
But he feels I’ll be fine for op as had a thorough check which most people don’t have! So fingers crossed!
My heart skips beats kinda feeling and fast heart rate, I do suffer from anxiety too I have done for about 5 years but it’s not too bad now, I think caffeine causes a lot with heart palpitations, wouldn’t worry you’ll be ok, they would see if there was a heart problem on ECG ect xx
