Hiya girls, i used to come on the forum regularly when i had my breasts done last year, but havnt done so much recently. But seeing as this is a public forum i thought it would be a good place to spread a message that recently became important to me. Last week i had an op, nothing to do with cosmetic surgery and nothing to do with Mya so please dont think for a moment im trying to put anyone off surgery, my op with mya was straight forward. It was a nhs op and shud have been straight forward. But i ended up havin an internal bleed losing quite alot of blood and needed 5 pints of blood plus two of blood plasma transfused. Im on the road to recovery now, but had that donar blood not been there i probably wouldnt be here at all. So all i wanted to say is, if your in a position to donate blood, please think about it. I intend to donate as soon as im well enough. I never thought for a second id ever need life saving blood transfusions, not many people do, it is remote at the best of times. But now im able to carry on being a mummy thanks to complete strangers and ile be eternally grateful xxxx
Good shout @lozzalooloo Glad you are okay and recovering. I donate blood when I get the chance and agree it is a wonderful and simple gift that could change/save lives xxx
Omg lozzalooloo do you know why this was? I’m going to donate blood as soon as my op is done and i can and going to put my self on the organ donor list!!! 🙁 Really need to think of how many lives we could be saving xxx
Omg! Hun! That’s fricking awful what you have been through! Glad you’re doing better!
Re blood donation, you can’t do it for a year following surgery, piercing, or tattoo’s, or ever if you have received blood (I may be wrong, but my friend wanted to and couldn’t because she had a transfusion years ago) xx
Misfion, thats great that you already do it, i never realised how important it might one day be for blood to be available to me and it is to so many. Sonia, thats great as well, im already on the organ donor list but i dont carry a card so thats something i need to sort, im sure most of us would accept an organ if we needed it. I had the bleed cos of a burst artey following the surgery, was just one of those things, its not common by all accounts and i was just unlucky. Joanna, it was really scary, i cant explain to anone how scared i felt on the way back to theatre knowing that i might not even wake up and i wouldnt even know, i begged them to let me have a spinal block since the surgery was below the waist, i thought if i could stay awake id be in control, but in emergencies they dont allow it. Had it not been for the fact they had blood reserves i doubt id have made it, it was the worst feeling. But that why its so important to donate. Your right about waiting a year, and ile have to wait a year from now but its definitly one thing im going to do xx
Ommppp… lets bump this to the top…. yeah we have a blood run at work every year ~ thou think mainly the guys in my office go just to get some time out… but its a good cause as my dad also had this at his place of work too… so just carrying on the tradition… and yeah like you said you never know when you might be in need along the way (((((Hugs))))) 🙂 x
Thanks jo. Gud idea the blood run at work, more people are likely to take part, and its somthing im going to look into sorting once im back at work xx
The place I work at is the Natural History Museum and we have over 1000 people who work there, so I guess its worth the ‘Give Blood’ to drop by plus we are connected to the Science Museum and also have the V&A opposite ~ so they know they’re gonna get a great result ~ though I do think that no matter how big the company, I think its something which is a really good moral/feel good booster plus its helps so many people. It’s a great cause 🙂 x
P.S. I just saw some old geezer in a trench coat carrying a 6 ft cross on his back followed by about 40 people…. swear to god Im not making this shit up and I haven’t been drinking either ~ not allowed due to op heh heh heh… Guess Easter really has arrived…LOL! 🙂
No way, lol, some odd people in this world! Im all for people upholding their religious beliefs, but really?…….. xx
