HELP! stitch hanging out of incision.. 5 wks PO

Hi girls,
im 5 weeks PO now and i have a tiny bit of my stitch hanging out of my left incision. Its not uncomfortable or anything and the nurse told me this can happen, im just worried coz im going away in two and a half weeks that it might get infected in the pool or something? Ive rang the nurse about 4 times today but SHOCK! no answer, just wondering if anyone else has had this? im not due my next check up until the end of may either and i know they’ll pull it out then, do you think i should have it done before my holiday or just leave it?

Hi hun have you had dissolvable stitches. Im nearly 5 weeks post op and up until 2 days ago i had the same them i woke up in morning and it had gone. Weird lol but my nurse said it sgould be fine until my 6 week check but mines gone now x

@pixiepixie1989 yeah they’re dissolvable, my right one has gone completely and I just have a tiny bit poking out of the left one, but you can see it and there’s enough to pull. I’m hoping it goes before I go away! And hoping the nurse gets back to me just to be safe. Hopefully I’ll be lucky like you! Xx

Hopefully it will go soon mine was long enough to pull but suddenly went i was worried about it but was fine. Hope it goes soon hun x

Aww thankyou Rose 🙂 Hey lovely just got your message but thought I’d reply on here so if anyone needs the support hopefully I could help, soo I thought I only had one naughty stitch which I pulled out further & had trimmed (was told to buy unperfumed moisturiser & shower creme to soften it so it breaks down & come out or continues to dissolve) but you’ve got to keep your hygiene on top form else unfortunately they could potentially get infected so I’m sorry hun but from what the nurse told me I wouldn’t submerge those lovely boobies in the pool just incase :/ on a bit of a downer now tonight though as I had a feel of my scar around my nipple on the opposite boob & felt 2 more stitches working their way out..naughty things!! Have you spoken to your nurse chick? I hope yours buggers off asap for you..lemme know 🙂 Xx

Hi hun i had the same at my 6 week check..i went on holiday the following week and wasnt allowed to submerge in pool or sea xx

Thanks for the reply @ducky01 & @pepperpot I tried calling the nurse 4 times yesterday, left a message but heard nothing back 🙁 do you think I should call my PC? I’ve not spoke to her since my op so dunno if she’s worth calling or not? I’m not really a swimmer anyway but I do like a dip specially when I’m baking away on the sunbed! My nurse did say its normal for the body to reject them but I can’t understand why ones completely gone and the other is still poking out! 🙁 hope yours goes too Ducky! Xxx
