After doing my research I decided that I would opt for the option of getting a bank loan rather than finance due to APR rates etc etc. Despite my credit score being excellent, I haven’t got any more than a 30% match on any loan companies (including Tesco and Sainsburys) was just wondering if anyone else had similar issues? How did you get around it? I’ve tried looking into loans from my bank but APR was insane. Feeling rather deflated as I wanted the surgery ASAP
My boyfriend has a credit rating of 998/999 and got declined it’s insane, due to lack of credit history. He’s had a 5 thousand pound over draft for like 6 years so that’s why it’s so good. But not enough credit history so we had to go to zopa. Go directly on the website and do the eligibility checker xxxxxx
Have you tried to get a 0% purchase credit card for large purchases? That’s what I’ve ended up doing. I think Halifax offers the longest 0% interest free period. Hope this helps xx
I do believe mya have reduced their Apr on their finance to like 9.9% so it’s a lot better. I noticed it the other day when I went on the finance calculator. It used to be something crazy like 19.9% xx
I went with Zopa and got accepted at an interest rate of 3.8% think it was. I’d definitely recommend going to them and giving them a go!! Xxx
Amazing ladies thankyou so much for responding! Will be looking into this very soon x
It’s for upto 30 months with Halifax. I only got 18 months but you can take out a balance transfer 0% with another company and extend this for another 18 months or so xx
Hey bab,
I tried looking at everything, I got accepted with MYA but didn’t want to take the first thing I saw. I tried 0% APR credit cards but to have one for £5000 was nearly impossible.
I had a current loan with my bank Lloyds which was 2 grand and so I went in and extended it to 7.5 grand. It gave me 12.38% APR and 36 months term with £250 each month.
It was soo much easier going through my bank as they saw how I’ve banked before and bills, outgoings etc. they were able to be more flexible. Have a meeting with someone there. My credit rating is like 591 or something around that so you should be fine.
Also Lloyds said if i extend to 7 grand it’s like 18% APR but if I extend to 7.5 grand and borrow and extra £500 I’m saving £500 because
my APR is just under 13% instead haha so try different amounts as may work out better xx
