Holiday

Hi girls,

I’ve got my initial consulation next week and want to sort my surgery out asap however due to uni assignments etc I can’t really have the surgery until the End of may/beginning of June. I was hoping to go on holiday mid July but obviously don’t want to be sunbathing in my sports bra!! Has anyone got an idea how early you can go away and how long you have to wear the sports bra for? I think I’d prefer to get the surgery done when I want and skip the holiday but would be good if I could do both!!

Hi Katie,

As far as I know my PC told me you can’t fly for six weeks after surgery but not due to the ‘implant exploding’ on the airoplane as the old myth used to say, but purely because of the risk of infection to your incisions as they may not be 100% healed.

Plus with the sun and scars it’s always best to make sure they are fully healed as it can change the colour of the final scar, best to use a high factor like 50 on them to keep them protected just like with tattoos.

As youve probably seen on here everyone heals very differently at different levels of pain for different amounts of time. Some are very lucky with hardly any pain, and some last a few weeks more.

I’d say give yourself at the very least 6weeks after surgery before planning anything as you’ll want to feel your best before flying.

6 weeks Atleast in a sports bra and 4 weeks before you can fly short haul and 6 weeks before long haul xx

I’m booked for surgery on the 3rd of may and meant to fly to Spain on the 17th of June do you think I’ll be ok to fly? Won’t be sitting in the sun so not worried about that just the flight. X
