    Hi All,

I had my splint taken off on Tuesday and was shown a lovely pretty little nose but ever since I have had it taken off it just keeps swelling up bigger and bigger and now looks hideous. I came back to work today and wish I didnt as I cant bear people looking at it im so concious of it!

Is there anything I can do to help reduce the swelling as I know you cant touch it so iceing etc is out of the question… i have been drinking pineapple juice & eating pineapple and taking arica tablets.

    PLEASE HELP!

    Thanks Nikki xx

You can touch it just not hard, I put face wipes in the freezer then lay with them on my face! They dont weigh anything so doesnt matter that they touch your nose. Take ibuprofen aswell, reduces swelling, if its really that bad though you should tell a mya nurse and check its not infected. xx

    Hey!

Thanks for that the make up wipes is a great idea!! I dont think its infected it isnt that bad but i think it is because it is on me and im so aware of it that it feels worse.

I had a septorhinoplasty and it took three hours as my surgeon said there was a lot more work than he realised at first so this probs has something to do with it :-( thanks for your help xx

Hiya, lucky you had your cast off already! :)

My boyfriend said I was gone for 3 hours when I had my surgery…and it was only an open rhino…

I think maybe it took them a lot of work to do whatever they did to my nose…

Must have taken a lot of bashing because of how bad my swelling and bruising was…

Point is, my cast comes off Monday and I’m sure my nose will be swelling up lots too so any tips will help me too :)

Yeah my swelling was awful too! Bruising wasnt too bad im exactly two weeks post op today and only a tiny black eye left! To be honest id rather be all bruised than swollen! Swelling really gets me down.

Apparently vitamin k and b help with swelling too – i went to holland and barrett today and the lady told me to buy them (could just be rubbish though but i hope not cos i wasted £17 on it!!).

Also pineapple just is said to help and i drank that for the first couple of weeks and think it did help as all the swelling went…untill my cast was taken off n it all began again so just be prepared for it!

Hope this helps! Let me know how u get on :-) xxx

Not really no – i loved it the first two days but now its just so swollen it looks awful and because of the swelling it doesnt look straight at all its just a big lump on my face.

Its getting me down so much, i wish it would go back to how it looked when i had the cast off :-( x

its very normal to have the swelling you have. i was exactly the same and many others. it will go down you just have to be paitent, it is really hard. i was gone for just over 4 hours, you had septo so the swelling will be loads worse as he had to do alot. he said to me my swelling wont be gone till most probs feb, im now 7months post op and id say 6months was when i was fully happy with it as basically all swelling gone accept for on my tip its still dead hard and still hurts (that bit wont go til next year) but you cant notice is as its just little swelling! Seriously tho try not to constantly look in the mirror at it as it wont change for a while yet. one day it might go down and then come back up swollen just the healing process youl love it in the end :) xx

Im glad im not the only one feeling like this! Its such a long process isnt it! I think im just being really paranoid and picky but I just dont feel like it is straight, im going back to see the nurse tomorrow about this and the swelling. Hopefully it is just the swelling that is causing this :-/.

Thanks for your post though hun its good to know it is normal :)

Are you happy with your end result? xxx

Hi all, I’m 2 weeks after surgery today and yesterday I felt happy today I look at it and think it looks just as big as it did before I had it done 🙁
What stage would you say the swelling goes down to actually notice a difference? I know I need to be patient just hard.
