I had my BA on Monday and have been up and about since I got home. I have two children, one at 18 months and one at 2 and a half years so Iv’e had to get on with things to a degree. I haven’t lifted my children as I was told not to, but Ive continued with light duties around the house. I have recently read a post about someones incisions that were open at each end when they went for dressings off, that had been caused by over doing it. How would you know if your incisions were opening up without looking at them? Also, when your shuffling about in bed trying to get comfy it can really hurt, could that be enough to open up you incisions? xxx
Hi Hun…I’m not sure if I can give the best of advice here as I don’t have kids myself but can imagine as a mother there’s lots of responsibilities especially with little ones that are still so young. Is there anyone that can stay over and help you out for the first 1-2 weeks because it’s only 2 days post op and you really need to be resting as much as you can at these early stages and you don’t want to risk anything either. I’m not sure if there’s a way of knowing if incisions have opened without looking at them but I remember my left side kept hurting under the strapping and after it came off it was just slight bruising due to tightness of the strapping under my left breast but incisions were fine.
I’d say the safest option is rest as much as you can and try get someone to help you for the first week or so. I guess your body would tell you if you’re over doing it maybe when you feel tired and pain when doing certain things but you don’t want to risk anything especially at early stages so try take it easy as much as you can but can understand its difficult with little ones but be careful Hun. Shuffling in bed and them hurting I think shouldn’t do anything to incisions and the pain might just be due to bruising and being cut with it still being very early days post op.
Hi Zena, no I have no one available to come and stay and help. My husband works nights and he’s at work tonight and tomorrow then when he goes back on his next shift I will be 6 days post op which isn’t too bad I suppose. It was the same after I’d had my C-sections with my two children…I guess I just plodded on. I am trying my hardest to take it easy but it is difficult when there is always something that needs to get done…arrrghhhh! Lol xxx
Awh okay Hun that doesn’t seem too bad as your husband will be able to help out a bit when he’s off work. Waow that’s super mummy stuff! My mum had a c-section and she struggled for a bit after so that’s amazing strength. Arghh I can feel the frustration lol but treat yourself to a lazy day or two just for now even if you have to force yourself to do only the necessary things and leave the things that can be done later until you’ve gone into your 2nd week at least. Hopefully your 1 week post op app goes well an that’s basically the go ahead to feel okay to do more things.
