How long after surgery until you can lift your arms?

Can anyone tell me roughly how long after your BA until you can lift your arms?
Im worried about not being able to wash my hair and under arms! Eww.. :confused:
Also ill be going to a party 12 days after and want to know if its ok to not wear my sports bra for that evening?

It really depends upon how much bruising you have and how long it takes for the swelling to go down. I’m 10 days post op and can lift my arms up and have been able to for a few days now. I had a shallow bath 2 days after my op and I washed my hair leaning over the bath with help from my partner, drying my hair was a nightmare though so you might need help with that after although I’m fine drying my hair now. I used baby wipes under my arms the day after and then had a shallow bath every day to wash my whole body avoiding the dressings until I could shower after having my dressings removed on Friday. I have been using Johnsons Baby Bath as its very gentle on your skin.
Some surgeons will say you need to wear a sports bra 24/7 but others will say you don’t need to wear one at all so ask your surgeon about that.

Thats Fiona, yeah iv stocked up on Johnsons Baby wipes and also got some dry shampoo but I think I will have to get the bf to help out with washing my hair, I cant bare to leave it one day without washing! I have extentions in too so its gonna be a pain. I normally shower twice a day so im worrying about these things lol.

Cant wait for my op although im very nervous!
Brought my sports bras today but im finding it hard getting hold of 34 E for some reason.
If you dont mind me asking what was your size before and after?

So you’re all prepared The dry shampoo will work wonders hun, even if it means leaving it for just one day, it really is good! Definitely get your bf to help, my bloke was very helpful, don’t know what I’d have done without him!

I was quite nervous about mine and couldn’t stop thinking about it, i even dreamt about it so know exactly how you’re feeling. You just want the day to come and to get it over with!!!!

Have you looked on ebay for 34E bras – I got a few bras off ebay through ‘Pure Seduction’ – http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Pure-Seduction__W0QQ_armrsZ1 – the lady was really helpful, she has provided lots of bras for women having BAs and other surgery, I got a good sports bra from Asda too it was only

Iv managed to get a couple of 34DD ones from Asda, I know alot of ppl on here said they were good ones!

Im having overs, im glad in a way because iv read the recovery and pain is much less than unders.

I hope they dont end up being E cups because I didnt realise just how hard it was trying to get the bras!

I’ll reply to your other message here too Being a full C at the moment, I think 380cc will make you quite big, did you say that you have seen the actual implants and tried them on inside a sports bra?

I’m actually returning a 34E white shock absorber bra to Pure Seduction as its too big for me so you should be able to get one through her – she also has a shop which isn’t online so she might have some other sizes available that aren’t on the website. That bra I bought was about

Thats what im thinking, I asked my nurse to order 340cc just incase i changed my mind. I want to try and lose a little weight before I go in for my BA, so more than likely il go for the 340’s.

Im just having a look through now, they have some good style sports bras on there and different colours which is nice because they arnt very attractive are they lol.

I know I hope so, it would drive me crazy not being able to do anything myself.

When is you BA? I tried to tone up a bit before my op as I knew I wouldn’t be exercising for 6 weeks. Do your boobs get smaller when you lose weight?

There are some good sports bras on there. As I exercise I know I’ll use them a lot once my 6 weeks is up so I don’t mind spending a bit more on good sports bras, would rather that than wear granny bras lol!

You’ll probably be commenting on here hours after your op saying how you feel fine and that you’ve managed to wash and dry your hair lol!

its booked for Aug 4th!

They are normally the first thing I lose when I diet. I want to lose about a stone but I only have a month so that might be tricky.
I agree, there are some really horrid sports bras lol. Like you say they can be used after for exercise so definately wont be a waste of money!
