How long does it take from admission to discharge?

I have been given my admission time, 10 0’clock this Saturday, at Fitzroy. Just wondering how long people were waiting around for before they were taken down to theatre and then discharged. Will it be a case of writing the whole day off or do they pretty much discharge you as soon as you are fit. Any insights and personal experiences would be welcomed. Sooo excited, have literally waited years for this!!!

Hi Angie, I had approx a 4.5-5 hour wait, my admission was 11am yesterday I only left at 10 pm as they like to monitor you for 3 hours after to make sure your fit to leave I went down at approx 4.30- 5ish and was awake by 6 . So pretty much my entire day was written off. It’s hard to say because I read of some girls only waiting 2 hours etc it really depends. I was at the Fitzroy hospital too xx

Hey Hun, when I had mine done I was first on the list and went down at about 8.20 and I had a 7 am admission time, and I got out about 3 in the afternoon but I was very sleep after the ga, but I have seen on here that some of the other ladies get out a lot quicker than I did, but I would allow all day really just in case you need abit more recovery time. Thanks ladies. I sort of expected this but didn’t realise I could be waiting such a long time to go down, part of me hoped I would be in and out, patience isn’t my strong point. Better make sure I take lots of reading material to keep me occupied. I have to break it to my daughter that shopping in London while I have my op is off the cards, still more money for new bras for me 🙂 xx @Gina, I hope all went smoothly, how are you feeling this evening? xx

@skoots generally I feel okay , just a little sore and I’m all strapped up so that restricts my movement I feel, not in any real pain though it’s more discomfort. I’ve also been icing on and off to help with any discomfort as well as taking my exact pain prescription on time with meals throughout the day and I find that really helps xx
