Im wondering what is the average total time of surgery day.. from arrival to leaving (not including those staying over at night).
Is there generally a cut off time for when you can leave also? And if it goes over you have to stay over night? Im hoping to leave later in the day as poss as it makes it easier for me to have a chaperone. X
I had to be there at half eight, I was the first one in theatre, after all my orbs and seeing the surgeon etc it was about half nine I went down to theatre. I was back in my room before dinner and tried to eat and drink but was sick. As soon as I managed a drink and biscuits (didn’t want proper food lol) and a wee I could go home, I was discharged around half three x

Hiya. I Had my op on Monday at the Fitzroy. Had to be there for 9.30am but didn’t leave until 7.30/8pm! My op was 11.30am x
@TAN did you find there was a cut off time for you being able to leave? Or can you leave anytime even if it was say midnight?
I had to be there 8:30 I was third to be seen and went down about 11 but by the time I was out and came round because my surgeon uses drains I needed to be there minimum 4 hours with the drains in so didn’t actually leave til about 6pm. Just expect a long day Hun. But youll be well looked after and comfy! X
My admission time was 1pm I didn’t get into surgery until 7pm and dismissed at 11pm! The longest day of my life I think there was some complications with a girl before me hense it being so late but I’d always prepare to need to stay in an hotel after
The rooms have TVs don’t they? God I hope so being there that long!
Hi my admission time was 10 but I had a phone call saying I could go in earlier as the girl before me had eaten breakfast so she had to wait 6 hours, I arrived at 9.30 had my obs and pregnancy test done I was In theatre at 10.50 remember looking up at the big clock I was back in my room by 12.20 and eating my toast and tea at 12.30, my drains were removed at 4.30 and I was discharged at 6.30 I was so nervous before hand as iv never been put to sleep before but i was worrying for nothing it really was a positive experience and nothing to worry about although it’s only natural to be anxious, I was lucky and had a really easy recovery ventures out the house 3 days P.O. everyone at the London Fitzroy was lovely ???? the only thing I have been disappointed in is iv never heard from my pc since my first consultation, a text after my surgery would have been nice although others have been lucky and had really good pcs xx
Yes free WiFi and tv in your room x
They mention anything about staying that late. Theres a comfy reception with a nice coffee machine in if you are well enough to wait there. They were so nice, you could give them a call and hace a chat if you are really worried!! X good luck x
The nurse from my clinic called yesterday! I did email my pc to ask some questions before xmas and she didn’t get back to me but other than that everyone has been great! X
I was at the Fitzroy yesterday, booked in for 11am, surgery about 2.30, they were all so lovely, even when I came too and was emotional and talking rubbish lol. My chaperone couldn’t get to me until 12.30 today and discharge was at 10am, so they put me in a room that wasn’t being used and kept checking on me. A really positive experience all round xx
