How much pain relief can I take?

Hi I’m 1 day post up and was advised by the nurse to take 2 paracetamol 1 codine and 1 robaxine every 4 hours however I’m still in lots of pain even after taking all the pain relief. Can you take more if you feel like you need it?

I think you should contact the 24-hour helpline they give you, they should be able to give you advice on pain relief xx

Hi hun, sounds like you are in a lot of pain if all that analgesia isn’t helping! I think Margie is right you should call the help line.

You shouldn’t take paracetamol, codeine or robaxin more than 4 times in 24 hours (every 4-6 hours) if you are taking it more than that, regularly (which you will be over the next week or so) you Risk overdosing yourself. If they aren’t controlling your pain you may need to add in another pain killer. You can take ibuprofen with the above meds unless you have an allergy to it or can’t take it for any other reason. (I’m a nurse btw I’m not just bullshitting 😂)

But yeah as I said, those really should be controlling your pain so call the helpline! Oh… also if you haven’t tried all ready use ice packs as much as you can or swap from hot to cold compresses, that really helped with my pain.
