Quick question, how long would you recommend I have off work for my BA? I have a office job with no heavy lifting but I don’t have much holiday left so I wasn’t sure if I could go back a few days post op?
Hey. I’ve not had an op so can’t say first hand but during my consultations I have been told 1-2 weeks off work. If your going for under the muscle your recovery is likely to be slower and you’ll probably have more pain / discomfort so going back to work after 1 week might be too soon. See if you can book your surgery so that you take some holiday and also encorperate your weekend into the recovery time to give you that little bit longer. Xx
Hi , I’d have at least a week off as even if your not in too much pain you do get tired .
My stomach swelled up after as well it’s going down now and it’s been 5 days since my op today and even though I’m not in pain I don’t feel back to myself xx
I was told they can give you a sick note to sign you off for two weeks might be worth querying about as that’s what I’l be doing hopefully as I don’t want to use my holiday for it
Hi. I had unders and got 2 weeks off straight away from the doctor in hospital where I had my surgery then because I do some lifting at work I got another week from my GP. I could get more but I got bored staying at home for 3 weeks already. Do not waste your holiday !! You should get sick note and get fully paid sick leave. My note only said “surgical procedure” and nobody was asking about anything.
xx
I went back after 6 days off (op on Tuesday, back to work on the monday) but definitely a week, even if you’re not in pain you’ll be shattered, especially from sleeping on your back, at an angle etc x
I’m in the same boat so tagging what little holiday I do have on to a bank holiday. Many people are ok with getting a sick note but if u wana keep it a big hush hush and don’t want ppl talking about it, it might be worth using annual leave. Xx
