So i had my op yesterday and hardly got any sleep overnight in the hospital! Woke up and my neck was so stiff and my shoulders feel so stiff and tense 🙁 my surgeon said i can just sleep however I’m comfiest and don’t necessarily need to be bolt upright although he says it’s better for reducing swelling, how has everybody got their bed set ups? Or any tips on how to get comfy please?!?!
    Thanks so much xx

Hi love do you have a v pillow its amazing
I tried bed first 2 nights then moved to sofa recliner
Try 2 pillows near head board stacked then one on front bit like steps then put v pillow on them at slant x

@yogibear11 I bought a v pillow to make sure I didn’t end up turning on to my side during the night. Had another 3 normal pillows positioned to make me stay upright ish and another one under my ass to stop it hurting. The most awkward part was making sure the bottom of my back was supported x

There’s not really a comfortable way tbh, I found the easiest was to have 2 normal pillows then my v pillow on top, then 2 pillows kind of either side of me wedging me in like a sort of armchair lol.
It didn’t stop the back and bum ache tho…it’s a little rough at first but it gets easier! Keep on top of your pain meds before bedtime they should help you be a little more comfortable/sleepy x

Hey hun I had a mini uplift with unders ten months ago and had to sleep upright at an angle for four weeks. I used a backrest, v pillow to rest my arms and keep me laying straight , pillow under my knees, a really firm memory pillow lower back and one soft under my head/neck . The back rest truly saved my life! I get it out when I wana read these days or feel poorly.

I’ve attached a screenshot of how this pillow set up looks from the side.

Some companies sell special shaped pillows in the US for it but it’s easy to diy!

Hope that helps and get some good night’s kip soon fzz

This is my problem too! Had my op yesterday and although I slept quiet good last night my back is already starting to hurt! I have two pillows then my v pillow and then another pillow and one to the side of me but I’m such a side sleeper it’s hard for me to get used to it x

Hi girl, I had my op on Monday I am still in a tremendous amount of pain can’t do much on my own honestly! I found the best way to sleep is to prop yourself up on some pillows and for my neck I have one of those travel pillows around my neck giving me total support. Comfort wise this has worked perfectly for me and I do not have a stiff neck or shoulders!so get yourself one of these travel pillows it keeps your neck in a steady position. Good luck xx

As some others probably recommends V pillow for ur neck , pillows under your back and knees it really helps under the knees to stop you slipping if you are up right a bit , also a hot pack helps with easing neck pain , good luck xx
