Hi,
I had my op yesterday with Mr Traynor at the Manchester Lifestyle Hospital.
I still can’t quite believe it’s done & have to keep looking at them to try and convince myself that I’m not dreaming!
I arrived at the hospital at 7:15am, & was shown up to my room, & was told that the nurse would be in to see me.
There was still not sign of the nurse and I was beginning to feel forgotton about, but the anaesthetist came to see me around 8:15am, to explain the whole procedure & to get me to sign a form.
At about 8:45am, Mr Traynor came to see me. He asked how I was feeling & asked if I’d decided which size I was having. I promptly told him that I would like the 260cc low profiles. He laughed & said that I had made his job a whole lot easier by making my mind up beforehand!! I signed some consent forms, & he then did the markings on my chest, & put my gown on for me. He confirmed that I would definately not need unders, & would therefore be having 260cc overs. I asked what time the op was going to be & he said that it would be about 12pm.
I was absolutely starving and was dying for a drink, but I hung on in there!! The nurse came in at about 10am and confirmed that I was number 4 in the list. She asked me loads of questions, and took my height, weight and blood pressure. She was absolutely lovely, and really put my mind at ease, and reminded me to put my ‘sexy’ paper knickers on just before surgery!
At about 11am, bf went & got himself a drink, then suddenly a nurse came in & said that it was my turn, and would be going down now. She told me to put on my paper knickers, and my slippers, and she explained that she would walk me down to theatre. I was really nervous at this point, as I was expecting it to be at least another hour. Bf came back with his drink and gave me a kiss and cuddle – I got a bit upset a this point, and he admitted later on, that he too had a little tear after I’d gone!!! I told him to text my mum to let her know I was on my way down, and off I went!!
The nurse was reassuring me that everything was going to be ok. We got to theatre and she handed me over to the anaesthetist and another nurse, who were also really lovely. I lay on the bed and the nurse attached monitors to me, whilst the anaesthetist put a needle into the back of my hand (it really didn’t hurt at all). He then put an oxygen mask onto my face, and told me to have a nice sleep. The last thing I remember was the oxygen mask going on, and me taking a big gasp of air, as I’d never had an oxygen mask on before.
The next thing I can remember was being in recovery. I think I was trying to look at my boobs, and was asking if it had all gone ok. The nurse said that it had all gone ok, and told me that I would be able to have a look at my boobs once I was back in the privacy of my room!
Then, I remember waking up just as I was taken back to my room. I think I was trying to hold my bf’s hand, whilst the nurse was trying to attach the blood pressure monitor!! I was still trying to look at my boobs, & got upset as I thought they looked exactly the same as they did before I went into theatre. I was really struggling to focus my eyes, & was convinced they hadn’t been done! My bf was laughing & reassuring me that they were definately bigger & that they looked a perfect size for my body!! I then spent the next hour or so nodding off, & trying to talk to bf.
At about 3pm, a nurse came to check on me, & asked if i was ready for food. I said yes as I was absolutely starving, and thankfully hadn’t felt sick since waking up.
My food came but it took me ages to eat it, even though I was demanding that bf shared it with me (I felt really bad for him having to wait around for me all day and didn’t want him to starve!). I then started feeling really sick, so had to have really tiny amounts of food, as I didn’t want to be sick all over myself!
Mr Traynor came in just as I was eating, and said that everything had gone really well, and he had a prod of my boobs to make sure that they were ok. He then said that he would see me in a few weeks time, and to make sure that I get plenty of rest and don’t over-do it.
He then left, and a nurse came in to return my slippers, as they must have been left in theatre. She also removed the blood pressure monitor, and said that as long as I was ok walking around, I would be ok to go home in about an hour. I immediately got up and started wandering around, finding my feet. I felt a bit wobbly and still felt a bit sick.
About 90 mins later, another nurse came back and took the anaesthetic thing out of my hand, it didn’t hurt one bit! She then helped me to put on my sports bra and I had to sign some discharge documents. I then packed everything up and was allowed to leave!!
I’m so sorry my story is sooooooo long, I just wanted to go into as much detail as possible as it really helped me by reading other peoples’ stories!! Hope I haven’t bored you to much!!
