I had my lipo today!!

Everything went very smoothly, the nurses and people at the manchester clinic are lovely!

I had my appointment at 10am, I went into see Dr Kingdon at about 10:15am and the nurse gave me a gown to wear,

He then drew on me and I went through to the room where the anathestic was put into my legs. This hurt ALOT! it was very painful and the worst part! I was so nervous the nurse had to dab my head and hold my hand for a minute!

After that the laser began, it was a VERY STRANGE sensation. I then had to go onto my front which was uncomfotable to have the back parts done… Then came the removal of the fat, this was also a weird sensation which I didnt really enjoy!

I had a lot of leakage after the procedure and on arrival back home had to change my dressings as I leaked all over my compression garment and the pads were soaked with the fluids inside me!

The insisions are very small and I understand I will become more swollen but I can see an instant difference, when my boyfriend was changing my pads he took a pic from behind and I was stunned at the difference.

I am currently not experiencing too much pain but think this will change!

MYA rang me yesterday to book my post op appointment next wednesday and also called me today to see how I was!

I had my inner thighs at the top to create a gap, inner knees and tops of thighs!

Overall they removed 2 litres of fat!

What an AMAZING EXPERIENCE FROM MYA SO FAR! Cannot fault it or the company so far at all!

hi i am thinking of having thisa at the bottom of my back (not sure what to call it haha) as i am quite thin i think it looks a bit odd lol but the thought of a laser scares me not sure y just the name i guess im at the moment arranging a breast enlargement bt lipo in that area is something i am going to consider x

Wow sounds fab ! How mUch is 2litres of fat in lbs?? I want lipo on my thighs but think id need the traditional lipo xx

Great story, im glad someone else thought it hurt like hell inserting the saline OWCHHHHHH!!! it bloody killed me!!! Everyone else iv spoken to said it didnt hurt them atall, i was beginning to think i was just a wuss hehe xxx

I so desperately want this procedure but I just don’t think I could cope without a general anaesthetic, I was going to have normal lipo with my ba last month but after seeing the laser results I cancelled, I wish they did laser lipo under ga, I’d be straight there then!

im sure there must be a way princess at request that they can do laser lipo under general anaesthetic, it would be worth asking anyway xxx

Yeah good ides, I will do, hadn’t thought of that. I know they couldn’t do it with my ba cos the surgeon didn’t work at same place, but after seeing the laser results I’m not sure I want the standard lipo, the results from the laser lipo are fantastic, thanks hon

It really wasn’t that bad under local… It did hurt but it’s just something you deal with at the time! I didn’t sleep very well last night and my legs sting a lot today, there was a lot of leakage yesterday but none when I have woken up today… How are you healing Jenn? Xx

Wow thats awesome! Today I am sore and bruised, THE GARMENT IS A NIGHTMARE! I swear its too tight for me, its so uncomfortable to do it up my fat spills over the top and over the top of the hole near the groin. Its so tight makes me feel faint! But only a week then its down to wearing it at night.

My legs are heavy and its hard to walk but the incisions seem to be doing well, I have plasters over them at the moment but they havent bled or anything since a day of leaking.

Hi Taya – thanks for sharing! Sounds like it was a success. Just wondering if you could tell me more about the recovery? I am getting inner and outer thighs done, and flanks. I know you said your legs were ‘heavy’ and it made it hard to walk. When do you think i would be able to get back into the gym after the op – even just light walking on the tredmill? and then running and spin etc. Thanks!!

Has anybody had lipo in the stomach and under breast area going to see surgeon tomorrow not to sure can go through with procedure, worried about the pain, can any body Help also worried about friends finding out wanted to keep it to myself is this possible……..

Hi Carolc, I went to the gym almost everyday before hand and its a very large part of my life. However, after nearly 2 weeks I haven’t been back yet as I am still a bit swollen round the inner knee and it would be so painful to run. But I think I’l be able to go back on the cross trainer this weekend gently. I wouldn’t recommend it but everyones different and the tops and inner thighs weren’t even that swollen its just my knees cus its on the bend!! Spin I would definately not do for at least another few weeks!! Don’t let this put you off its the best thing I have ever done! Hope this helps! xxx

Leggs, don’t be scared of the pain, the aneathetic is quickly done then you feel nothing. The stomach area would be a quick healer as you dont rely on it to walk like your legs. I have read about people that have had their stomach done and it seems very straight forward with good recovery. Don’t be scared, you won’t regret it! x

Okay, so i am day 1 post.Had my inner and outer thighs and saddlebags. Wow last night i was in A LOT of pain – and i have a very high pain threshold. I took 3 lots of the co-codamine painkillers. But i have woken up today, virtually pain free. It is just a bit painful to sit and generate big movements (I’m staying in a BnB, and have to climb a thousand stairs to get to my room damnit!).

So my story sounds so similar to Taya’s – arrived at the Manchester clinic yesterday to get started around lunchtime (they were running behing scheduale, as it was meant to be 10.30). I wasn’t nervous at all. Really calm. But i remember some people on the forum saying to take the diazapam if you could – i just took half the dosage. Looking back, i dont feel it even kicked in? Weird.

So then you get dressed down into a paper G-string and gown, and the surgeon draws on you -I had Dr Johnson, who is really lovely. Then you get swabbed down with anti-bacterial wash by the nurse, and jump up onto the operating table. She did my outer thighs and saddlebags first – one leg at time. Then i flipped over and she did my inner thighs. The worst part was by far the anasthetic and insertion of fluid injections. It feels like your skin is being peeled away as the fluid goes in, and it is very tight. Not very nice. Then they hit the lights and laser the fat. The lights come back on, and they start sucking it out (gross noise). This goes on and on – was in there for over 3 hours, and she removed almost 2 litres of fat. You can see it at the end – it’s a mixture of red and yellow. The other thing was i was really cold – you are just wearing the g-string and you are lying in a pool of wet liquid for most of it. They also had the aircon on as the Dr was hot! Agh.

So then the surgeon leaves and I had 2 nurses come and ‘milk’ me lol. They compress your skin to get out the fluid (over 4 litres goes in!). Then they bandage the incision sites (i have 8 i think – a fair few). Then they squeeze you into your garment.When you have had something to eat n drink you are free to go.

I got to the BnB and took some painkillers, but really started to feel where the incisions were, and they were throbbing like mad. The pads soaked through very quickly. I kept changing them from 4pm until 12pm last night, then got up at 3 am to take more painkillers and change them again. There was ALOT of blood. I know the difference between watery soloution with blood, and blood. I was freaking out, but decided to stay calm n wait til the morning. I think i just bleed easily.

Anyhow, much better today. The two incisions at the back of my legs are still bleeding a bit, but i will chat to my nurse when she calls today. I have gone through all the bandages already! Looks like a blood bath. But i can see my shape and it is definately smaller! It will all be worth it in the end!!

Sorry for the essay, but hope this helps anyone unsure of what to expect. It’s not a pretty picture, and i may have had a worse reaction than others, but i think it is important to know what to expect. It isn’t a ‘pop in over your lunch break’ procedure at all.
