I had 350cc hp unders on the 22nd of December, not only is the pain excruciating, I can’t sleep due to back and neck pains and I’m constipated and have been since the surgery! I didn’t realise that my experience so far would be so bad and in affect it ruined my Christmas 🙁
Can anyone please advise on how to cope with this pain or how to sleep well in a night? Did anyone else go through this?
Thanks
I took lactulose morning and night for constipation and didn’t think it had worked and yesterday 3 days after starting it finally it worked and my tummy is so much better. It’s really gentle and you can buy over the counter at the chemist. Regarding the other pain I’m in the same boat 🙁
I had my surgery on the 22/12/16 too. I’m in lots of pain and struggling to sleep sitting up. I’ve taken lactulose to and that’s really helped.
Have your bruinesd? I’m really bruised. ???? Xx
Hey jules yes I’ve sent my partner on a mission to go get me some it’s now 5 days and I’ve had no movement I’ve never had trouble like this going to the toilet! Hi Charlotte, sleeping string up is proving a nightmare and I am waking up in more pain than I feel to sleep with. I allayed slept of my front and it’s such a change now having to sleep on my back. I still don’t have the strength to lift myself other of bed either so still heavily relying on my partner
Also windeze tablets I used after my c section and bought this time but haven’t needed but they were great. Bruising has been ok but I took arnica 2 weeks before and since surgery. I sleep on a v pillow but this am I couldn’t move and had to take tramadol and let it kick in before I rolled out of bed. It’s reassuring to know we are all in the same boat. Pain is ok when I don’t move
Yep feel at ease to know it’s not just me in this pain. It hurts for me to Sutton down because no matter what I do I cannot relax my shoulders so it’s constantly giving my neck/shoulder paid and making my chest feel tight
🙁 onguess it’s the extra weight we are carrying and our body adjusting to it too. I normally sleep on my side so I get the neck stiffness from sleeping on my back. Also skin is a bit itchy now and wish I could have a proper bath or shower
Snap! I managed to have a shallow bath Christmas eve but couldn’t enjoy it I was worrying about getting water on my wounds
Jules i’ve heard if your skin is itching to take Piriton x
I’ve found doing as much as I’m able has helped me, I haven’t led around I imagine if I did my body would shut down and that’s when I’d start to ache. I put 2 of my pillows in a triangle shape to go around my shoulders and a pillow across the top of them for my head and that’s helped me laying on my back in not overly raised though I lay flat but as long as I’m on my back I wouldn’t think it mattered.
I also take paracetamol and I have a strong codene the hospital gave me for pain I tend to take 2 paracetamol and 1 codene about 8pm ready for bed xxx
Hi Paige.
I had 250 cc under on Dec 20th. Did the clinic give you muscle relaxers? They helped me in the mornings as the sleeping position made me very stiff first thing. The pressure from being in a sitting position for so many hours will ease off when you have more mobility. Deep heat spray will give some relief and you can buy heat or cold if you prefer.
If you’re taking pain killers those may be making you constipated. I didn’t go for 5 days but I didn’t mind as the T-Rex arms meant I wouldn’t have been able to wipe my bum my myself. Orange juice helps with constipation.
The itching apparently means healing, personally it’s driving me nuts. I’m not sure what the answer to that one is yet.
I’ve been told that as movement is reduced after surgery, the body thinks it needs less sleep. It’s annoying as I like to and used to be very good at sleeping. Day time naps help, but I appreciate it may not be possible. Chunks of fewer hours may help for a few days.
Hope some of this helps. I’m feeling better today. My boobs no longer feel like they are going to fall off my body. I’ve even taken an elbow to the boob and it didn’t explode ????

Hey thanks for the advise I’m more mobile day after day but still no luck in the relaxation in my muscles just sitting of the sofa causes me pain and feels like my inplants are being ripped out my chest. I’ve been taking ibuprofen, paracetamol and codine to which I belive it what’s making me constipated. I’ve tried all sorts to help me go including orange juice and cups of strong tea.
I may try and take the codine just before bed to each the aching in the night hopefully that may help! I’ve also been putting a hit water bottle on my shoulders to try and help relax then this has worked slightly so far
Feeling better today managed to go to the toilet after drive king 3 cups of strong coffee! I’ve stopping taking my codine aswel just on my paracetamol and ibuprofens. Still in a lot of pain in the morning after my sleep and my shoulder are still super tense. I’m also venturing out shopping soon don’t won’t to miss out on the boxing day sales!

I didn’t go with mya in the end. hope your scar is healing well let me know what they say at your pre op x
Hey ladies sorry to hear about your pain totally in the same boat as you!!
I’ve found when I go to get up out of bed/on the sofa to use my tummy muscles (I’m not a gym bunny I don’t have tummy muscles) but if you think about getting up from your stomach you’re not using your chest to get you up!
Silly I know but it’s really helped me! And in this healing process any little thing really does help xxxx
Sorry to hear you’re in such pain. I was in horrendous pain for a week then moderate pain for another week or so. Nights were awful and if I had any movement in my chest or simply any strain if I moved a millimetre it was unbearable. But it passed and I just wanted to let you know it can be normal and it does pass eventually. I know how you feel so hang on in there because one day you’ll wake up and be pain free!
