Infection :-(

Hi girls, I’m 4 weeks PO and have always had more of an issue with my right breast, it was higher to begin with but has evened out but it’s still very hard and numb. When I get up in the morning it pains whereas my left is absolutely fine. I noticed on Friday there was scabbing on my bra from my incision, I left it thinking the scab was just working it’s way off but on Saturday morning the whole thing was off and my scar was a little yellow so I rang MYA and the doctor confirmed with my pictures that it was a slight infection and has prescribed me another course of antibiotics.

Has anyone ever been in the same boat and will my right eventually settle down? It panics me every time it hurts :-(. X

I haven’t but I’ve been on here a while now and I have seen before girls that have had an extra lot of antibiotics and everything was fine in the end, some ppl just heal quicker than others….. keep the scars clean n dry, I used an antiseptic wipe morning and night when mine were healing xx

I had exactly the same don’t worry, I’ve had four courses of antibiotics now! However mine was worse than yours! Mine was leaking fluid! They have all healed nicely now and I am so pleased with my results I am nearly 4 months post op! Try not to worry, get plenty of rest and take your antibiotics full course x

@lizzy123 did you experience pain in one more than the other? I keep getting paranoid thinking somethings wrong with the right one! Thank you for reassuring me though! Xx

Hi Sophie, I had exactly the same thing as you! two days before I was 4 weeks po I noticed scabbing on my bra I checked and didn’t really see anything so went to bed, woke up in the morning and it was like a hole on my incision! it looked yellow! I sent pictures over to the on call doctor because it was a Sunday and he prescribed me antibiotics and told me to book in with the nurse at mya the next day. I went and she cleaned it and redressed it, I had that on for a week, went back and she cleaned it again and put butterfly stitches on it to try bring it together she said that it wouldn’t leave a scar if I have these but obviously it will take slightly longer to close with those rather than a normal stitch, had those for a week and then went back and had them for another week!! the nurse was brilliant to be honest and now im nearly 9 weeks on its closed and hasn’t left an ugly scar! I only took the last dressing off at the weekend! I was getting slight pain in my right one (one with the infection) im still getting twinges in it to be honest but its just healing more than my left I guess! my left has dropped now but my right hasn’t as its been fighting an infection. hope you’re ok 🙂 xxx

sorry …… she just cleaned it and put a dressing on it the first time as she wanted me to take the antibiotics for a week to clear the infection before closing the wound. I was gutted as id only had the dressings off a week! xx

@hope0307 thank you for that, it makes me feel better haha! Although mine also has a little hole buy the MYA doctor who rang me back never said anything about getting stitches and I had to get it redressed at my local nurse because I live so far away xx
