I have paid in full but cannot have the op as my doctor won’t write a letter for the go ahead ( he doesn’t see the point as I don’t have any medical problems just have history of depression etc ), which no-one told me about! and so I have had to cancel my op and wanted to know if I will get refunded in full?
That’s really out of order! So there’s no way you can get the op?
As far as medical history was concerned they just asked for the name of my doctors surgery and then I got a letter from them saying that MYA had requested my medical records and I had to give permission and pay £20 and that was it! No one mentioned anything about a letter from my doctor
I’m not sure if the £500 is refundable, the rest definitely is but don’t take my word for it
Sorry to hear!
xx
I never told my doctor I was having the op, until mya couldn’t get my bloods out, and then had to go there, but I sat down and told them I was doing it for me, not my past history (iv been slightly depressed and had a long standing eating problem), so I can’t see why your doc will put a stop to it. If its something you really want, change docs, this is for your new you, and nothing else xx
what a load of b******s I am bipolar and I am a big girl and can and did decide to have surgery, this is ridiculous. If they had declined the surgery then the 500 is refundable
I’m having same prob. My op is nxt Friday n mya is having trouble getting hold of my records all because I said I’d been to see a therapist once for self esteem problems
so if they can’t get hold of them my op has to b postponed when my partner n mum have booked holiday days off to help with kids I’m furious xx
im really upset! i had never heard anything about having a letter from the doctor. in such short notice it is impossible for me. im not happy with the way i’ve been treated, i feel really penilised for having previous mental health problems! will not be going with mya after all this.
my mum booked time off to babysit my son, my partner took time off to come with me.
they said if the gp didnt want to write a letter then i’d have to get someone from the mental health team to write one. the whole reason i was going private with this procedure is because i dont want anyone knowing!!
my mum said she is going to come to the gp with me and see what he can suggest. x
Aww… I feel your pain – I have had major problems with the Mya / GP relationship relationship. I only found out on Thursday that my op on Friday could not go ahead due to low platelet levels in my blood. It took weeks to sort it out
Now I changed doctors to one which doesn’t detest cosmetic surgery, and hopefully I should be able to re-book the op soonish! Hope it gets worked out for you hun xx

If mya won’t go ahead u shud get ur refund back as it is not ur fault, I wud check ur terms n conditions book (they give it 2 u wen u 1st attend) n read through it very carefully. If no mention of drs report etc then u shud b entitled 2 a refund. Ur onli bound by terms n conditions in that book n onli if u signed x
thats a bit strange?? i never told my doctor, why did u ask your doc for permission? xx
they said that they cant do it without my gp writing a letter because of mental health problems
x
just read abover, i missed some of it, sorry! i hope u get it sorted. such a shame to think your going to have somthing and then it gets taken away, im sure ul get it eventuallly xx
i was diagnosed with bordeline personality disorder 4 years ago but just have anxiety now x
Don’t count on getting your refund back anytime soon, I have been waiting nearly a month for money to be refunded to me and still heard nothing its an absolute joke! Be different if I kept mya waiting a month for money
xx
oh my god thats terrible! im really unhappy with mya. looking into spire and ramsay healthcare now x
just found this thread, im really worried now as I am on anti depressants for low mood. i never told mya as i didnt think it would matter im on a really low dosage. they are writing to my gp after my preop and im so scared ill loose my £500 and im due to pay the remaining balance today!!!! i dont know what to do now
xx
Does mya always contact your gp if your having a ba? I have no health issues or history on mental illness and would strongly object to them contacting my gp as this would be a private procedure! Girls, have you all had your gps contacted regarding your ba?x
