I have been researching Vaser for quite some time and have several areas i want treated (upper and lower abdomen, bingo wings, love handles and back) i am firstly worried about how much all of this would come to but secondly that i will have the procedure and that i will not get anywhere near the results i want. I have recently lost 2st and don’t look any different, i have some more to loose but i would like to start looking and feeling better in myself.
Can any of you ladies advise me on what i should do and about your results
Thank
Natalie x
Hi Natalie
Prob the best thing is to visit a few surgeons and see what the general consensus is. BMI has to be in the normal range for most surgeons at MYA but provided you are within that then I would be surprised if it didn’t make a difference based on the girls i have seen with results here. One word of warning, they tend to do three areas max but it’s easier if you are not having your legs done, however it might be fairly pricey with that many areas!
Hi Bell,
Thank you for your advice, i have already gone to Transform and she basically said no they won’t do it at all because ‘it doesn’t work on larger areas’ but this contradicts all of the research i have already done. I am within the normal range BMI as the MYA lady on the phone (Leanne) checked this for me, i would like to get three areas in one procedure and the rest in another but don’t know if this is possible and if it is how long i need to leave between the procedures.
I think that even though it will be pricey if it means i can enjoy being young its worth the price, i am mostly worried that i will not end up with the results i want or that i am not happy with the results and i will be left to pay a huge bill and still be unhappy. Do you have any advice for this?
– Thanks
Hi Natalie. I’m having vaser this time.next week. I’m at the very top end of the bmi range and a curvy size 14, but although I do a lot of exercise inc runnjng 4 times a week the stubborn areas of fat will not go. I’m having my tummy flanks and inner thighs done not to lose weight but to look the way my body should with the exercise i do.
I’ve looked at a.lot of before and after pics and the results.from ladies my shape and size seems great. I’m slightly concerned I might have excess skin, bit I’m hoping with tlc and following the timings for wearing the compression garments it will be fine. Hope this helps.
Hello Philippa,
Thanks for your advice, I would be really interested to chat with you again once you have had your surgery done and see your before and after pics when you have them. I am also the top end of the BMI range at a curvy 16, I go to the gym 3-4 times a week but even though I have lost 2st I don’t look it, I have seen the results pics and it has given me cause to hope! I am worried about excesss skin also but think that if you were the compression garment and do what you should you’ll be fine. Thanks for all of your advice and I hope your surgery goes well.
Hi Hun
It sounds like vaser would be perfect for you. It’s quite frustrating at the start – you swell so you don’t see the results immediately (but that was me – some do) and you can’t exercise!! but 4 weeks post op my legs are starting to go down and the skin has tightened and I can see that the areas are starting to take the shape I craved. I hope it will def have been worth it but its difficult to tell right now for me and i think everyone has these fears – you just have to be very patient post op!!!. As you are fairly curvy i would think you would notice a difference quite quickly in shape, especially if having it done in a number of areas. I think if you see a MYA surgeon they will show you pictures of what is achievable (they only show you the general ones with the coordinator) and this is what i found most helpful – Dr Max had a patient who was a very similar frame with similar issues and he was able to show me what was a realistic result 3 months post op and that convinced me! Oh I was really worried about excess skin but the compression garment def does the trick as i don’t have any on my inner thighs! Good luck!!
Hi Bell,
I saw my coordinator (Cassandra) yesterday at the Fitzroy Square clinic in London and explained all these areas i wanted treated, she was absolutely wonderful very welcoming and made you feel completely at ease. She did recommend that i would probably need 2 procedures as they will not do all of the areas in one go (i thought this may be the case) and she suggested i see Dr. Alan Kingdom, have you heard anything about him?
I fully expect to be swollen and bruised for several weeks after the surgery as not only did Cassandra explain this but i also discovered this through my extensive research. Cassandra gave me my own MYA folder with all the information inside which i have read and found very helpful in answering some of my questions. I am book in to see Dr. Kingdom on Thursday 21st May and am really excited but nervous and i don’t like taking my clothes off in front of people (more like terrified!!). As i am fairly big and curvy i have opted for the Band C and am looking at getting my abdomen, flanks and inner thighs done first however i am worried that either not enough fat will be taken (i understand the maximum to be 5litres) as i have read reviews were people are only having 1-2litres removed and i don’t want to pay thousands and not have enough taken out (i would like 4-5 if possible). I am also concerned that because of my size my results will not be anything near to what i want.
what can you advise about this?
– Thanks x
Hi
Glad ypur consult went well. I’m there on the 21st for my op. Might see you there!
I’m having band c on my abdomen flanks and inner thighs. I will defiantly have some photos up in the next week or so to show.
Likewise I’m hoping to have as much as possible taken, a lot of the before and after pics are of slim girls so I imagine there’s not an awful lot of fat to take away and it’s more sculpting – I have plenty! I’m hoping for anything over 3 litres but I’m going to leave it in the hands of the surgeon. At the end of the day it’s their job and by all accounts do a good job and I’d rather they left me in proportion than leave me looking odd!
And the more they take the more there is a risk of loose skin.
It is a big investment though so totally want to get the most for your money!
Hi,
What time are you being admitted for surgery?
Wow that is exactly the same as what i will be having done in my first procedure, if you don’t mind me asking what is you current size? i am really excited to see your pics!!
I do trust them i’m just worried i’ll be paying through the nose and not get anywhere near the right amount taken out, i’ve read all these horror stories and i think i am scaring myself haha.
I can’t wait to see their file pics of the befores and afters of patients my size, did you find this helpful and encouraging when you saw them with the surgeon?
It’s a huge investment and i (like everyone) just want to make sure i am getting the most out of my money because i don’t want to have corrective surgery or have more taken out because enough wasn’t taken the first time around.
Good luck with your surgery and i might see you there =]
Hi Natalie
So I’ve just had my op. I had Mr joffily. I arrived at 9 and was up in surgery by 11. After being drawn on the anethestist arrived to talk me through some bits and put me at ease. Once in the op room they put a canula in my hand and I felt pretty sleepy and can honestly say I remember nothing – I assume I had to roll over but don’t remember a thing. Woke up in recovery where two lovely nurses helped put my garment and the equivalent of a stab proof vest on! I had some pain relief which made feel a bit woozy but after a nap and some water I began to feel much better. Just waiting to be sent home now. The incision points hurt a bit – they felt.like red hot pokers after the op but are hurting less now.
They took 3.6l from me which is amazing and like I said I had plenty to take. Mr joffily did say that there will be a risk of loose skin on my tummy (I have stretch marks from weight gain in my teens) but I’m determined at 27 with wearing the garment as prescribed it will be minimal – I’m being optimistic!!
Hood luck with your consult and hopefully this will give you an honest idea of what it’s like!
Hi Philippa,
CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so glad to hear that your surgery went well, in some of the research i have done people said they saw immediate results (before the swelling and bruising kicked in) was this the same for you?
Was there any particular reason you chose to see Dr. Joffily over Dr. Kingdom?
You have eased a lot of my fears as i am scared that i will feel pain even though my research says otherwise it is different getting a first hand account from someone who is the exact same treatment as me.
3.61 Litres OMG that is amazing!! i have stretch marks also but i hear that Bio oil works magic on those, i have also read that Arnica helps to reduce the amount of bruising; i dont know if this is true though. How was it getting into the compression garment and the 4D vest? is it really uncomfortable? I wear the huge body shaping pants everyday and they are quite tight, is the garment anything like that or a lot worse?
I hope to hear from you soon
Hi Natalie
So when I was in recovery I looked down at myself and didn’t notice a major difference but I was up to my eyeballs on drugs at that point and can remember saying some silly things so probably not a true representation!! I’m on my way for my nurse appointment now so I haven’t looked beneath my garment yet – I’m a little scared to do so but glad I’ll be seeing myself in the presence of the nurse in case I get a bit freaked out! I stopped leaking overnight too which was a relief. I was quite.soggy by the time I left the hospital.
The foam vest isn’t the comfiest and cuts.into the tops of my legs when I sit down – I’m hoping I can sort that with the nurse in a bit. The other garment is like all over spanx with hook and eyes up the front feels like control pants without the gusset. Not too horrendous, but pretty warm although I slept quite easily in it lying on my back.
I’m not in too much pain today just achey and getting up from bed/sitting is a mission but I’m hoping in a few.days this’ll get easier.
Hi Philippa,
Haha i hope i don’t say something silly when i have mine done! That’s fair enough really, do you see any results now? how are you feeling pain level wise?
How did you visit with the nurse go, did you see any results? It’s good that it stopped overnight, i read some stories where people leaked for days afterwards, your quite lucky.
I have read that also, is it as bulky as people make it out to be or is something you can hide under your clothes? I have worn body forming suits and spanks and they are quite tight so i am hoping that the compression garment wont be tighter than that =]
Hi Natalie
So I’m now just over 2weeks post op. The only downsides I’ve really had so far is the bruising which is mega after a few days! But now that’s virtually all gone.
The difference is unreal it’s like someone else’s body on me. I’m now in proportion and it’s amazing. I took some of my own measurements preop and in places around.my.tummy I’ve lost 8cm. It’s really amazing.
I’m now back to normal life and really didn’t have much pain at all. I didn’t need the pain killers they supplied and only took the ibuprofen for the swelling, plus arnica tablets which i swear have helped so much.
– however the vest is bulky. I can’t really wear any of my trousers as it comes over my hips and I refuse to buy new things just for 4 weeks. I do feel bigger than before when I’m wearing the vest which is difficult as I have confidence issues but I know it’s temporary and can’t wait for 4 weeks post op to unveil my new body.
The only thing I would say I’d at the moment I don’t see any difference to my thighs. I had inner thighs done and my measurements.say I’ve lost 1cm from each but I can’t see a noticeable difference yet.
I think thighs take the longest to see a difference. Having near 4 litres removed you will def see a difference straight away, even with the swelling. What i found hard is seeing no difference for a good few weeks although now there is an improvement….I had Max Marcellino who i was very pleased with but i have heard good things about both the other surgeons. I would just say that on the day make sure you really drum it in to whoever you decide to go with that you want the max, they will always be slightly cautious as it’s their nature but just remind them when he come to mark you up!! They didn’t take much from me, less than i wanted to be honest i wish they had taken more from my ass!! but Max said after they took plenty and you risk looking funny or sagging in some areas if the contouring isn’t very smooth….best of luck!! let us know how you get on! Bel xx
Philippa,
Wow that’s amazing i am so happy for you, when you had your flanks done did it make any difference to the back bra fat? i am concerned about this as i don’t want to still have that once i have already had the surgery. I have now changed to go and see Dr. Joffily because you sound like you’ve had an amazing experience and i am having the same areas treated, i am seeing him this Saturday.
I have heard that Arnia helps and i’m glad that it worked for you, i’ll have try this also.
I thought they would be bulky and i can understand it can get very frustrating especially when you have spend to much money to look slimmer, once it comes off you’ll be a whole new woman! =]
I am looking at having my thighs done also, i have been told it can take a while for the effects to show but i really hope that you are happy with yours and that they start to show soon.
Do you have any before and after pictures i would be able to look at?
Natalie xx
I’m so glad I found this post, it’s put so many of my worries at rest! Congratulations on your fab results xxx
Hi Natalie I’ve just got round to putting my before and after pic on my profile. Feel free to have a look. These were taken at 5 weeks post op. I’m over the moon with my results. I’m back to playing sport again and love my new figure. Bra roll isn’t changed much but that is a separate surgery area i didn’t have treated. But nothing g clean eating won’t fix.
Have you had your consult with Mr joffily yet? How did you get on?
Hi Philippa,
WOW!!! you look amazing, i am completely blown away by your results at only 5 weeks post op. If i was on the fence before all of your advice and pictures have definitely convinced me; if you don’t mind me asking what dress size was you before and what are you now? I can see a noticeable difference in the ‘bra roll’ it is almost non existent from what i can see.
I haven’t been able to see him yet, i have booked several times but had to cancel as work cancelled the days i booked off, i have made an appointment for next Tuesday and i cannot wait; i know i am definitely going to have it done it’s just the payment that’s a pain
How are you finding the compression garment now? how much longer do you have to wear it for? Was the foam west easy to conceal or did it stick out like a sore thumb?
Ah thank you. I was around a 14/16 dependant on the shop and now I’m a 12ish.
Yeah the foam vest is a pig. It’s enormous and hot and I hated it but the 4 weeks go past quick. I told people I’d had an op on my back and that I was wearing a brace for that. I’m now just wearing the spanx and tomorrow have my 6 week checkup. I still swell if I don’t wear the spanx like when I’m exercising and find I need more compression some days so I sometimes pop a waist trainer on. But it’s only fluid so I’m not too worried.
My scars are about half a little fingernail size now, still pink but smooth which is great. I also haven’t got any lumps or viable subsurface scaring which I think is the one benefit of being larger is that it’s not so agressive on the tissues below like it is in a very slim person.
I honestly didn’t think the results were all that until I saw my own pics on here….you get used to the change pretty quickly.
I hope your chat with Mr J goes well. Don’t be put off if he is slightly off hand and aloof…i think its just his professionalism and.I’m proof he does a good job!
I am a size 16 and i would love to go back to being a 10/12 again, i didn’t think it would be possible for that to happen but from what you’ve said it has given me hope that it will.
I have to be honest i wear spanx under most of my clothes now anyway so that won’t be a problem for me but it is just the foam vest that i am concerned about. You had a good idea about saying it was a back brace, i might have to borrow that! How long does it take for you to stop swelling up if you don’t wear the spanx or is it different for everyone?
That’s good to hear, by the sounds of it you are healing very quickly, i hope i am like that. Did you have any of the lymphatic massages? I agree being larger to begin with probably protects your muscles and soft tissues better.
I hope i adjust quickly like you have, i am more than ready to being a new life with my new body!
I shall bear your advice in mind when i meet him, i am looking forward to it so much i get giddy thinking about it haha. How long after having your consultation did you have the surgery? I have booked the 1st week in August off and hope i can get it done then =]
Okay so yesterday was the big day, i have had my abdomen and flanks done!
I was meant to be a day case but as i have quite a way to travel i opted to stay overnight and paid the additional £400/
So the day came and i was admitted at 12:30, i wasn’t given a surgery time but was told Dr/ Joffily would come and see me and mark me up before i go through; the anaesthetist came and saw me at about 3pm and told me as i am staying overnight i will be given a general anaesthetic rather than the intravenous sedation. At 4:55 Dr. Joffily came in and drew on me, got me to sign the necessary paper work (beware there is a lot to read and sign from consultation to procedure). The nurse came and got me a moment later and took me to another room where i disrobed and was given my general anaesthetic, these ladies were absolutely lovely and were chatting throughout; i felt very at ease but admittedly nervous. All i remember is talking to a nurse and then the next minute waking up in the recovery room with a serious case of the shakes; a really nice male nurse put what i can only describe as a tumble dryer lead under my covers and blasted me with hot air to warm me up. He took my blood pressure and temperature and wouldn’t let me go back to my room until i had reached a good body temperature, he was chatty and friendly throughout. Two male nurses put on my vest and garnet, i was still quite groggy so don’t really remember all of it but OMG one of the nurses was really and i mean REALLY strong; just what was needed to do up this garment.
I was eventually wheeled back into my room and i was looked after by a wonderful Philippine nurse, she made sure i was comfortable (as much as i could be) and check my blood pressure every 30 minutes, she told me to press the buzzer if i needed anything and bless her i must have pressed that thing a dozen times. Ladies you will need a nurse to help you do EVERYTHING, move, get up, sit up (which is impossible for the first few hours). She made sure i kept my fluids up and that i ate something.
Ladies plea be aware that you cannot sit you go to the toilet you have to stand over the toilet, squat and aim carefully; it feels strange at first but you’ll get the hang of it.
Over the course of the night my nurse checked on me regularly, i was told usually after general anaesthetic patients want to sleep but i couldn’t, for the first few hours i must of adjusted my bed and pillows and hundred time because i just couldn’t get comfortable, mostly because the vest is very restrictive and it felt lil i couldn’t breathe properly, tho s feeling will lessen as time goes on, i found standing was amazingly helpful. I was wide awake most of the night and didn’t manage to get to sleep until about 2:30 in the morning and woke up at about 6:30; one minute i was sleeping the next i was wide awake …. bizarre but ok!
When the nurse checked on me she kept asking how my pain level was and if i needed a pain killer, i have quite a high pain threshold due to my many previous injuries and told her i was ok, it was more discomfort and breathing trouble than actual pain.
When i was initially admitted there was a lady who had just come out from having surgery in the bed next to me (it was a double room) but as she was a day case she was gone and few hours later (when i came back from surgery) and i hate the room to myself. NICE!
You will bleed a lot and loads of fluid will come out over the first day and i needed my sheets and gown changed quite a few times but i woke up this morning and thankfully it seems to have stopped. If you can stay the night i would highly advise it as i had questions and got worried about the amount of blood at one point but the nurse was wonderful and eased all of my fears.
I was meant to be in surgery for 2 hours but was told when i came round that i had been in for just over 2h 30mins and had 4.5 litres removed …… SO HAPPY! can’t wait to see the results now.
When i have pictures i will post them but if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask
