Yesterday I arrived for my 7.30 admission, dressed in a gown, slippers, paper undies compression stockings within 30 minutes and was in the operating theatre 1 and half hours later! Between those times I saw DR Mashhadi again who drew my lines and took pre op photos. I met my anethetist and nurses and signed alot of paperwork. I was suprised to learn that I was second on the list however I ended up being moved to first, I guess my paperwork and tests were just done quicker on the day, I have a flair for emotion and anxiety so I didn’t tell my boyfriend of 10 years a massive goodbye in the lift, just a see you later and that if something went wrong that there’s instructions and wishes in the side pocket!

What can I say? I knew I’d be fine but knowing they were there helped me relax.

I walked to the theatre and popped myself up on the table. I was surprised how bright and airy it was, nothing like those serious medical dramas. A woman my height with kind eyes helped me get comfy, she and the anesthetist who is a cannula genius (Didn’t feel a thing!) Spoke to me. They were both so caring, I told them I had a silly question, it was one lil niggle my anxiety was pulling at “how will you know if I’m awake but can’t move?”

The aneasthetist explained to me that my levels she monitored would let her know if I was under enough. Her professionalism and their reassurances was all I needed to hear. I said “Ok, thankyou” and took a steadying deep breath. I would be ok.

They spoke to me about my work as a nurse and what I do now as assistant to the directors. She told me she was applying the anaesthetic now – she injected it through the cannula I think as don’t remember a mask being put over my face. I remember the cold rush into my finger, them telling me to breathe and a few seconds later, lights out.

I don’t remember a thing at all during surgery. I remember them waking me up and me telling them “best sleep ever” before lights out again and I’m in my room. About 10.30-11am i got back i think. I shared my room with another MYA patient under Dr Mashhadi. It was nice to have someone else there. Hopefully I was just as good company! ?

The nurse, Dorina, gave me oral morph to help with the pain. I pretty much just wanted to snooze until needing the loo, Dorina helped me there and back. A bit later after that I had some buttered toast but immediately felt nauseous. I stopped and was given anti nausea medication. Later on I stuck to dry toast which I ate slowly, the nurses kept brining me hot toast without me asking. They were very kind. I ate maybe a slice and half over 3 hours then I had 3-4 biscuits instead of soup for dinner.

My blood pressure had decided to be a stubborn bugger and dropped after surgery plus I hadn’t passed urine yet. (Two boxes that need ticking before discharge) despite drinking like a fish they needed to put me on fluids which solved both those things. The lowest it dropped was 96 systolic. It came back up to 116 by discharge and I’m usually about 120 anyway, so for me personally, it was not a worrying drop.

I saw DR Mashhadi again who told me he had given me my genuine maximum and I was wise not to go above 400cc despite having the option to ask him for a higher amount at the second surgeon consult and my boob greed doing some talking. I should make clear that the highest DR Mashhadi recommended for me was 350cc. I went 50cc outside of his guidelines. I am glad I didnt go higher, it is really important to look after yourself.

I had a visit from another MYA girl at about 8pm who I had met online pre surgery when I realised our surgeries were same place and day. It was so great meeting each other on the day and will be great to have two girls to chat to who are on the exact same timeline as me.

After that and getting my meds I was discharged (approx 8pm). Dorina gave me some pain meds to take before I left for the drive home, I was starting to feel the pain again.

Turns out my Macom bra had just rolled at the bottom and pressed against my incisions which caused most of it.

I can’t thank everyone enough who has looked after me and played a part thus far in my BA journey.

The drive home was interesting, I sat on a pillow which and wasn’t really affected by the bumps. My boyfriend was careful driving over them and around corners. I felt the corners alot more! I tried to gently stop my boobs moving too much.

We got home and I immediately went to the bedroom without seeing my dogs. I love them but two excited husky crosses after surgery is probably not ideal. I had some chicken from the Chinese take away and then went to sleep. My pillow arrangement is super comfy!

I woke up may be three times in the night needing the loo. I felt bad to ask my boyfriend though so every time I used my legs to get out of bed and then left the doors to bedroom and bathroom open so I wouldn’t need to worry about opening/closing doors.

So far I haven’t been in alot of pain, ive actually been rather comfortable but I do think I need to make more of an effort to not reach for things as that will be what causes me pain.

They were super hard yesterday, slightly softer by maybe a mm today but just as numb. My right boob seems to be less numb than my left. I love them so much! ??

I was wearing a 36b before and I’ve attached a picture of my pillow set up. I actually have a sequence of images on my Instagram _myapatient2019_ of how I built up my pillows x

The black pillow at the bottom front is very firm memory foam, important to support lower back xx

Hi I had my op 3 days ago ! Went for 325cc HP under muscle also with dr mashadi.
trying to not look at them too much as they are very hard and high also looking abit pointy but I’m guessing that will change as time goes on .. I’m also wearing a band to help push them lower.
    But I’m loving having boobs!
How are you getting on ? xx

@chanellebaker I’m doing good. I’m not really in any pain but I do get nauseated every now and again after eating. All in all though my recovery is alot easier than I thought it would be. How’s your recovery been so far? X
