Hi lovely ladies.
So had my last pre op appoinment yesterday and I’m more excited than ever.
I just have a couple of questions after thinking about a couple of point my nurse made. So just after a bit of advice from ladies who are post op / have some knowledge
1) I’m currently taking microgynon (pill) and was advised they recommend not taking it for a month before. Now what did others do. Preferably I want to continue taking it, as my body is used to it and I don’t want to fall out of the routine. Did you stop taking it or carry on before your op?
2). This will sound super petty compared to above. But in my pack it says no nail varnish. How strick are they on this? I always have gelish on my natural nails… so just trying to be prepared lol
Thanks ladies ❤️
Hi hunni can’t help with the first question but I had my op yesterday and my surgeon checked I had no varnish on my toes or hands so did my nurse, I would double check with yours but I’m sure it’s a no no with them all xx
I was told to change my pill (currently on Yasmin which is a combined pill) 4 weeks before my op and 2 weeks after, but I know a lot of ladies have had to come off the pill completely! I’m not sure which pill I am supposed to go onto and I don’t want to mess my body around by changing!
Also, my mum had her boobies done 3/4 years ago (with Tranform not MYA) and she took all her gels off and on her day the nurse told her she didn’t have to! I have my pre op Saturday so will defo ask these questions!xx
Hi, I’m not with MYA but I’ve been told to stop taking my pill (i’m currently on Yasmin aswell) 2 weeks before my op and to start taking it 2 weeks after my op, when i asked why at my pre op they said it was to do with the additional risk’s of blood clots? and i also always have gel’s or acrylic’s on my nails and they’ve said all varnish and piercing’s are to be taken off before the day of my op. Hope this helps 🙂 xx
I had to a op taking my pill two weeks before my op. Your surgeon would have advised at your pre op if this was required? Maybe ring and double check?
I took my falsies off just incase but think varnish would be fine if you leave one finger bare so they can stick the oxygen and pulse reader on. As nail varnish can interfere with the results.
Xx
@beckieede do you mind me asking if you are going onto another pill in those 4 weeks? If so which pill!?xx
I’m on cerazette mini pill and was allowed to carry on taking it as it contains no eastrogen
And nail varnish or anything covering the nails is a huge no as they need to be able detect a pulse under your nail bed and donesnt work through polish etc x
@elliebannisterx I’m not going to no hun, my surgeon and nurse both recommended for me to keep my body clear of any pill or hormones if possible. Sorry i couldn’t recommend anything, my surgery’s the 26th so i’m coming off it next Tuesday and will start it again mid October xx
Can’t help with the first but they are strict with varnish. However I did paint mine and then removed it the morning of the surgery. Put it back on after then xx
My surgery is on Tuesday and I was on microgynon but I came off it about six weeks before when my packet ended so then it worked out I wouldn’t be on my period when I was having my surgery. Il start taking it again when my period starts about two weeks after surgery. The nurse at my pre op told me to stop either 2 or 4 weeks before I can’t remember xx
@alexandranj you have to stop taking the pill at least 4 weeks before op and you’re allowed to start taking it after two weeks post op.. they only advise this because the pill can cause the blood to thin and possible blood clots.
Also with nail varnish/gels/acrylic it all needs to come off unfortunately, but you can put it back on straight after x
anyone have a dermal piercing? Mine has to come out 🙁 which will scar my face
I’m post op hun and was allowed to stay on mine I was told if it’s a straight forward BA then no need to come off the pill I’m on loestrin20, suppose everyone is different though xx
@kellyhalse you can keep your piercings in if you want to, they’ll just make you sign a disclaimer. I have my medusa done, took it out though because it wasn’t hard work. So you have the option to keep it 🙂 x
Ah okay, Thanks @meg. I have my lip done, but that can just slide out. My dermal is anchored into my cheek though, so that would need to be ripped out.
@kellyhalse as long as it’s away from the mask, it shouldn’t matter that you have it. Just the disclaimer as I said. Speak to your PC before tho just so you’re 100% that your surgeon would be happy with it
@gemsehguh i did email her originally asking her and she stated all piercings and dermals MUSTbe removed. That’s why i was asking, as i have heard other companies that allow dermals to remain ,
Anyone on the depo injection? Does this also effect things? I’ve not long had mine and lasts 3 months!
@kellyhalse ohhh, okay. Ask the nurse? I think I might’ve got it wrong, I think I asked my nurse. I know that a girl before had her tongue done and couldn’t take it out, so she left it in and signed a disclaimer
@alexandranj I had to come off my pill, I only came off it 2 weeks before as just stopped it at my natural break, and I’m now waiting for next period to start it up again.
I had to also remove my acrylic nails, they are quite strict on this and nail varnish, as there is monitors that go on your fingers.
Xx
