LEAKING INCISION REALLY WORRIED

My left incision is leaking quite badly it’s like a yellow/red very watery fluid, I dressed it half an hour ago after speaking to the emergency nurse and it’s leaked through the dressing and my bra and iv just had to change it already?!! Is this normal I wasn’t worried until I seen the amount that was coming out! It doesn’t seem to be stopping at all 🙁

Ring them again hun and maybe go to a drop in centre if you have one nearby? I have no clue if it’s normal or not I’m afraid, but if it’s the start of an infection, better to get onto antibitics as soon as you can get them I would imagine. Let us know how you get on xx

Just rang up again she said it’s probably just a collection of fluid that needs to come out it’s normal for it to leak a fair bit and to just keep changing the dressings, going to ring and get into my clinic tomorrow to see the nurse so I will let you know what they say! Xx

It sounds like a Seroma hun, it’s a build up of blood plasma and fluid, it’s not normal in the sense it’s not something you should expect to hapen but it’s not always a serious problem, it would be a good idea to go see them or go to your GP for antibiotics as it can cause a scar infection, again nothing to panic about just keep on top of it and make sure to get the antibiotic! Ohhh no I hope it’s not seroma I don’t want anything draining out 🙁 wahhh why can’t my left be perfectly fine like my right one! Hopefully some dressings and antibiotics will clear it up, just had another look at it and it seems to be slowing down now a few days ago though it was very swollen and sore to touch although the swelling seems to have gone down, I’ll let you know how I get on after seeing the nurse xx

Hun add me! My leaking has only stopped after god knows how many months of back and fourth visits to the clinic!!
They’ll probably put iodine on it incase if it still persists after 1 week demand to see the surgeon to get antibiotics as could be infection. Mine was and it’s only stopped leaking – I had my op in September! X

Wow as if it’s only just stopped leaking like 3 months after!!! So what did they do just keep dressing it and that for you?! Iv added you now hun xx
