Hi, Im a week after my op, and have read a lot about how massaging is good for the breast … just wondered if I should be doing this now the strapping is off? xxx

Ring your nurse and ask I think it depends on ur surgeon. I was told not too massage at all. Like they were seriously against it or ask at your 1 week check x

I researched the more earlier you massage the easier it gets but I’m presuming they go through that with you at the check up
Congrats on your New boobies 🙂 x

I asked my nurse this before I got discharged after my op and she said that it is ok, as long as I am not touching my incisions. All I’m using is cocoa Shea butter cream which specialises in stretch marks which helps skin elasticity and stretching. I am 5 days post op and they have been ok so far 😀 I guess everyone is different. Xx

I think it’s a bit of a dull area isn’t it. There’s no clear dos and donts. When I asked the nurse at the hospital she said yeh but the mya nurse said no and started freaking out saying it can cause blood clots or something I can’t quite remember! I know girls that have massaged and have been fine tho! I have put cream on where my skin has been dry but not massaged just left them to do there own thing x

Thank you all … yeh I have heard mixed things, my nurse said I can as long as I use a vitamin e based cream, but they didn’t seem that keen – but I have read really good things about the benefits of massaging!?? xxx

Massaging is more of a big thing in the US, they still use a lot of smooth implants which have a higher rate for CC, so they are advised to massage to break up the scar tissue. Smooth implants aren’t used at all in the UK anymore (as far as I’m aware), the textured shell reduces the rate of CC so there’s no benefit for massaging, it can stretch your pocket, shift your implants and like another lady said it can cause clots. Rubbing cream in to the breast (away from the incsion) is fine but the aggressive massaging isn;t really advisable. Hope that helps! x

I was told not to massage but after seeing my surgeon he advised me to massage as they are still quite high. It’s not the massaging you think though lol!!!! He told me to lay on my belly on the floor with my hands on my bum and rock side to side with pressure on my chest x
