At 6 weeks po I was measured at a 38dd. I’m now 11 weeks post op and felt for quite a few weeks that I’d been measured incorrectly. I was recommended by a good friend towards an amazing little group on Facebook called boobs or bust – bra measuring advice. After speaking to one of the lovely admins and sending her the measurements requested. It turns out I’m a 32gg. Surprised isn’t the word. My surgeon had me at a 36a pre op. Worth checking your measurements ladies after all we have paid good money to have the boobies of our dreams it’s only fair we ensure they are properly supported in a correctly fitted bra.
That group is a godsend! So few women are aware of how a properly fitting bra should look or feel! I 100% recommend it to anyone who asks/mentions bras to me! X
So I’m nearly 9 wks po. A couple of wks ago I went to Victoria’s Secret to get measured and came out with a few 34D bras for me new boobies, which I was very pleased about.
Saw this post so visited the fb page and I’ve just been measured 30FF ? Now I’m really confused as to what size I am!! Xx
I’m confused about this as surely if you’ve been wearing a D bra and your technically a FF surely the bras wouldn’t fit right as that’s a fair few sizes too small? I’m so confused haha ? not used to all this big boob stuff
I dont really understand all of this stuff . I got measured at Marks & Spencers and Boux Avenue , and I was measured 34E /34F . I don’t have any reason to think the measurements are wrong , because my new bras fit perfectly!!!
Hi Claire,
In part it can be explained by sister sizes. When you go down a back size you go up a cup size. So, if you wore a 34D and then realised your back was too loose but the cup fit well, youโd get a 32DD and the cup would be the same size.
So, if you wore a 38DD the cup would be the same size as: 36E, 34F, 32G, 30GG โ and I guess all of the measurements these women had done in those shops were just out by enough to totally confuse their bra size. Hope that helps!
Iโm a big user of sister sizes, itโs rare to find nice 36AAs so I opt for 34A most of the time ๐
I was mega confused too and thought they must have got it wrong. TBH you give them loads of measurements, band tight band slack, around the nipples standing and bending forward. In VS they only took one measurement.
Apparently when you go down a band sixe you go up a cup size and there isn’t much difference between D and FF. I have just ordered a 30FF to see if it fits. x
Thanks Claire for explaining , it’s helped a lot to understand the bra measurements ..
I always thought sister sizes were ‘down a back, up a cup’ but it’s actually ‘down a back, up two cups’, which is why the two sizes sound so different. A bigger back means the same cup size actually has a much bigger volume – but if you’re wearing a bra with a band that’s too big you may as well not be wearing one because most of the support comes from the band xx
I found this helpful ?
I’ve used Boob or Bust and found the results hugely inaccurate. I’ve pre op and currently fit into a 34A and Boobs or bust said I was actually a 28F ? I know that I’m not a 28F as I can’t even fit a size 28 bra regardless of the cup size – in fact I can’t even fit into a 30 bra and can only just fit into a 32 bra! Not convinced girls.
