Medical history

Hi is anyone else having a problem with there doctors giving them a summary for there medical history? Im are just being awkward. But i did not even get the notice off mya up until now as i never got given a mya pack with my forms in. Getting stressed now as my op almost 6 weeks away and dont have a clue when they need my medical history x

I had to pay for my general medical summary, could that be why they’re being awkward? Ideally MYA will want medical info ASAP as they can be quite strict when it comes to signing off surgery so may need additional info from your doctor xx

I was asked to provide mine as soon as, my BA is on 13th March.
Sorry you’re having so much trouble getting your summary. I know some GP surgeries charge for giving you this information but it is very easy for them to print this out for you.
If you have an app where by you are able to book your GP appointments online, on that app you should have access to your summary, that’s how I got mine.

@littleladyx · Im willing to pay if they release it as i said but there just like the doctor got a back log and could a few weeks

@natbap · Im not sure if i can but ill have to check that out. I just dont understand why they wont just print it and ill pay what ever. My op day is 22nd march. But i had only known this the other day as mya did not mention it to me just one of the girls did who was getting a op. So i dont understand how my pc did not mention it either xxx

I am also having trouble my doctors are being awkward, requested one on Monday been in every day since and they just keep saying it isn’t ready all they have to do is print it off!! And I have to pay £10 which I wouldn’t care if they would just print it off!! Xxx

@missh4z3yx · It so stupid. I got told ill be charged 50. But then mya was like you only need a summary. So i think it should be much less. They never got back to me friday so im going in and not leaving until they give it me. We are entitled to our own medical history. They make out its a big job. I hope you get yours soon also xxx

I didn’t need to give my medical summary as mya requested it and my doctors sent it I just had to give mya my nhs number and they did the rest xxx

@staceymlx. I got my pre op on wednesday so if they dont give me it. Do you think mya will sort it then stacey? I getting so worried my doctors going to be awkward and i wont get my op done on my date. When do they need your medical history? As my op is 22nd march. But got my pre op on wednesday 7th feb plus i see my surgeon again so that will be my last visit untill my op date xxx

Did you give mya your nhs number ? As usually if you have its normally all done for you and it’s al there ready at your pre op incase you need bloods done I didn’t even no anything about it till I went to my pre op and she had it all ready and waiting xxx

I got confused by what they wanted at first and MYA called on my behalf and my GP sent it straight to them!

@indiah. Ok that making me feel abit better maybe there do it for me then instead. Iv not had a clue myself so maybe it something they have or will get when im at my last visit.
Did any of you girls get a charge for it? Xxx

I didn’t get charged for that, they sent it straight to them so I wasn’t involved in the exchange. The only thing I may be charged for is a letter I need the doctors to write for me as I’ve had previous mental health issues that weren’t recorded by the GP.

@indiah. O ok hun. Im just going to wait until iv got my pre op see what they say as they have not mentioned me asking my doctor for my medical history. I just seen it being mentioned. So maybe they have it or it been sorted xxx

Doesn’t sound like it’s sorted Hun then they asked for my nhs so they could get intouch with my docs on my behalf and it was all sorted for me xxx

I walked into my GP practice and the receptionist printed off my patient summary there and then…. £10 charge of course! But I got mine straight away XX

@staceymlx. Just gave mya a call. They sent them a message friday afternoon so i need to call my doctors. But there not open till monday so hopfully they will sort it now xxx

I had no problem getting my medical history at all (summary printout of the last 2 years) and I didn’t have to pay. I know every surgery is different but I called then emailed the same day and had it collected the following afternoon. I’d suggest ringing your Surgery reception, asking them for an email address which is for their team. Then put it in writing, say it has been request as a matter of urgency from a private clinic and give them a deadline for it ( I told them my pre-op was end of next week, it’s not actually till end of Feb). They have to process this for you, and having it in writing usually speeds up the process. Hope this helps!! Xx
