    Hi I’ve booked my surgery for the end of October with Dr Netri. I’m 5″6 / 8st / 32AA & going for 275-300cc / HP / unders.

I have to make a decision on smooth or “micro-textured” Mentor implants but I don’t know what type to choose. He said these are not the classic “textured* ones that were recalled but are a new type and have smaller grooves. Both smooth and micro-textured have pros / risks and not sure what to go with as I overthink things. I was leaning more towards micro-textured. Which type have you got??

    Hi Violet,
I have the textured ones that you are describing. You are right that each have their pros and cons. I decided on the textured as they have more of a grip and are at less risk of capsular contracture and rippling. Obviously your surgeon isn’t allowed to tell you what to choose but I got the impression mine preferred these. The smooth ones went out of fashion/were recalled for a while but apparently have been making a comeback according to him. Also the smooth will give you less of a natural look and more of a “boob job” look if that makes sense.

Thanks so much for replying – I didn’t know that smooth could put you at risk a less natural look! Think I will also end up going for the micro texture to avoid rippling and possibility of a re-op – also want them to look natural as possible. Thanks
