Just thought I post it here in case any other post op girls develop this! Last two days my incisions felt a bit tender and sore, my right side was painful to touch under incision and when I did touch the skin under it I realised I’ve got a wire like vein sticking out and going dowm a few inches towards my stomach. It is more visible when I lift my arms. Showed a nurse (I work next to a Walk-In centre, how convenient) and she said it was Mondor’s cord which is very common after breast surgery and will dissolve in time, basically it’s inflammation of the veins after trauma of the surgery. Not gonna lie I freaked out at first but google did wonders and I now know it’s nothing to worry about xxx

@kikij87 hi, I know this is an old post but does anyone know how long this lasts? I have noticed it today and sent pictures straight to my nurse as didn’t know what it was and I am a worrier and she got the receptionist to call me and advise it is mondor’s cord. She said not to touch it (only lightly to put my bio oil on), not to put heat or ice packs on and it will go on its own. Was so relieved that she had said it wasn’t serious I forgot to ask how long it lasts!! Does anyone know? Also why do you get it? Thank you xx
