Hello, I thought I would post about my overall MYA journey from the start until op day (yesterday).

My stats are 5”6, 10st 2, size 8 top, 10 bottoms, 8 dress, 32/34c mostly all side boob and lacking fullness. I have had, 325cc and 350cc high profile overs with Dr Netri at First choice hospital Preston.

My first consultant – My MYA clinic is Nottingham, where I live, and my initial assessment consisted of me meet Ria, who is my PC. We spoke through the different types of implant sizes, profiles, placings etc. Did some basic medical history, occupation, bits on the actual op/recovery, and got my boobs out for her to see what I wanted to create (fullness and volume around my cleavage and top of my breast). ID checks where done before I went in, so during the consultant we spoke through if I was going to proceed, which at the time I was 100% sure already I wanted to, when I could have it done. Due to having annual leave already planned out until next April for work, I was off this week and next. There was a slot available for today (my consultation was just over a month ago) and we did the finance application/paid deposit there and then and was all booked!! Scary to think it was as easy as that! I booked my appointment with the Surgeon and pre op with the nurse also at this appointment. Around this time I also received all of my care plans and appointments via email, and also by the Mia app. Was told about different bras of which I researched into my self, and was told to look at the MYA forums, of which I’ve not been able to put down since, loving everyone stories and especially photos, really helped me with choosing sizing. You also need to contact your GP, of which MYA does too and request your medical history. My GP was really good, when I rang up and said how do I go about this and if they need it in formal writing etc, they said my GP will have a look over it and MYA had requested it already, of which they sent out in the post that day.

Meeting my surgeon – My surgeon was Dr Netri, who I met with my PC present, two weeks after my initial consultant. We again went through past medical history, past anaesthetic etc. Again got my breasts out for him to measure, talk through what I wanted to achieve. Before going I already had the ideal of 350cc HP overs in my head but didn’t say anything as wanted his professional opinion, of which he then said 325cc in my right as it was slightly bigger and lower (I had never noticed before) and 350cc in my left, HP and overs. So fab agreeing, he said I could go 375 but I didn’t want big big, especially as I’m quite small on my top. I tried the implants on it a bra and put my clothes over, I could see straight away that they suited my frame and as best as I could, could see that they were around the size that I wanted. Once I was redressed, we went through detailed of how he would insert the implants, mentioned drains, post op risks and if any should occur what they would do. I was given all this information also. Once finished with Dr Netri, I went in with my PC who confirmed my sizes again to order and we spoke through bras and any other questions I had before leaving.

Pre operative nurse meeting – I attended my pre op with my nurse the following week, which was the week before my planned op. She did my baselines observations, HR etc, did my height and weight. She also took photos of my boobs (head up) and I signed a disclaimer for these. We went through again how Dr Netri would perform the operation and risks. We also went through what I could do before, e.g eating/drinking and was advised that anything that was not mine needed to be off, so my semi permanent eyelashes, nail varnish, body jewellery. We also booked my pre op appointment to have my dressing off/check up for just over a week after my surgery. I had MRSA swabs done here too.

The day of my op – 26.07.2018
I received my admission time the day before of which was 08:00. Me and my partner left just about 05:00 due to our route consisting of traffic spots. So glad we did as there was a crash/bridge falling on the M6. We arrived about 7:40, went in with all my stuff and checked in in reception. I was taken through to my room just after 08:00 by a HCA, and my partner was left in the chaperone area whilst we went through confidential questions (even though I said I don’t mind as he knows everything). We went through all the ore surgery questions, health, allergies etc, when I last ate/drank, I did a urine sample for a pregnancy test, which was negative obviously haha. I also changed into my theatre gown and put the lovely luxurious paper knik kniks on and ted stocking. Once she had done a set of observations of me she went and got my partner. I was informed I was second on the list so would be around an hour after the First Lady went down. She told me that I would have drains when I came back left of suction for 2 hours, 1 hour without suction then if no problems then could come out and I would be allowed home if I had eaten/drank/mobilised/passed urine. I was going home to Nottingham of which is not recommend to be more than an hour away/somewhere you could also get stuck in traffic, and because of the traffic already I was asked if I would be able to stay a bit longer of which I did. Dr Netri was late due to being stuck in the traffic which I was constantly updated on. The anaesthetic, the male nurse who was working on my room side of he hospital, another doctor and the theatre nurse all came in and out at some point to say hello, go through questions and check everything over. Dr Netri came and drew on my chest and we went through the consent form and signed it. I was walked down to theatre about 11:00, I went straight into the theatre and laid on the bed. I had my cannula put in here and was told they also administered iv fluids during surgery to maintain your hydration and blood pressure. Within 10 seconds of having the anaesthetic I was asleep. I awoke in theatre recovery and instantly looked at my boobs had a slight feel of them, (I love them)! Minimal pain, no nausea in fact I was starving, I just felt a bit tired. I was wheeled back to my room, and transferred on to my bed. My drains where connected to the suction and over the next twos hours, the nurse and HCA was in and out checking my observations and checking how much blood was coming out of the drains. I had also drank 4 glasses of water, a bottle of Diet Coke, and ate some lovely toast and a cup of tea. I had lost 10mls of blood in total from each side of which they were happy with. My suction was taken off and I was left until I buzzed about 30 minutes later as I was desperate for the loo. The nurse came and took my drains out. Now, before having this done I had rarely seen anyone post about these or I had just not noticed. I do know they are down to the discretion of your surgeon whether they use drains or not, however from looking down, I thought they was just poking out of the side of my skin. It is important to note I had barely any pain before having these out. When he removed the first one, I had never felt anything like it and could feel it being pulled from my cleavage, through my boob and out the side, which was the longest 5 seconds of my life and left me with instant moderate pain. The nurse said I had clotted well hence the force he had to use to pull out. He applied pressure for a few minutes and then stuck another dressing over. Now I had a few minutes and some water in between having the other side done, which wasn’t as bad but still a horrible sensation and was left with pain after. I went to the toilet and this point and the nurse came back in after to help me and to put my bra on. Of which then I asked for some pain relief. I remained there for about an hour, got dressed and had my cannula out before being discharged. I was given my paracetamol/ibuprofen and codeine and aswell as 5 days of antibiotics for a precaution. The journey home wasn’t too bad an took just over two hours, I had my triangle pillow behind and a pillow between the seat belt and my boobs most of the time but didn’t really hurt when I didn’t. All my pain was around the underneath of my boobs/at the incision line and still is. I can use my legs normally (obvs), can bend with knees bent properly and even my arms well enough, managed to tie my hair on top of head a few times. I realised that the pain is more when I move my abdominal, so I’m getting up and down from the sofa/bed/toilet using my legs, so sitting on one leg so I can put myself of without having to put much force through my arms, and getting into bed on my legs so I can move back and get positioned before leaning back. I managed to make food when I got in and didn’t really struggle to go to the toilet at all, which I was expecting to be awful. I have been taking regular analgesia but slept well overnight even sat up, just needed a bit of help from my parent to push me up so I don’t have to do a full sit up to get up a few times, and for him to pass me things once I’ve already positioned myself, only to save myself from getting up etc. I’ve woke up this morning and still feel ok, I was dreading day two so I will write again tonight and take some other photos, but will post the not so well focused ones I managed to take yesterday.

Once again I love my boobs and I am really happy. I was most nervous about the result and not liking the look of them and the pain of which I know we are all different but was what scared me from the forums I had read. My implants are quite high around the top of my breast and look more odd from the side, but I know all in time they will drop and when they do I think they’ll be exactly what I wanted. I’m so pleased.

I hope this is helpful for anyone who is researching/or has appointments/ an op date booked. 🙂 xxxx

P.s please ignore my post op photos as it was taken at my sisters house who has just moved haha.

@dianemcd it’s so excited and definitely worth it! You’ll have to let me know how you get on… I can defo notice the difference between my 325 and my 350 which people said you wouldn’t be able to, but it’s quite a bit tighter and more painful, 325cc is such a good size if you’re similar stats to myself xx

Louisa – how you doing today!? My stitches are really painful on one side, feel like it’s ripped open. Are you in any pain?

Hey Nico, I’m doing ok, managed to sleep well enough again on/off… my stitches are really really sore both sides, they just feel so stingy, which I don’t think the weather helps at all… my bandage slightly moved too, so I could see the end of the steristript covering the actual stitches, had to stick another over myself… I wouldn’t know if they had come open or not unless your bandage colour changed? I would hope they would of started that they would of started healing by now superficially so the top layer of your skin, it would be more underneath, I would imagine would take some force for it to happen, but I’m not expert in wounds, maybe call MYA if you’re worried? I also changed my bra after I showered yesterday to a m&s front facing sports bra, of which is so supportive I can move a lot more in it without my boobs moving with me, causing pain, if that make sense xxx

I’ve literally had no real pain since the op so this has come as a shock. Think I stretched in the night and pulled the stitches? Either that or it’s just healing pains. It’s ok when I lie down just hurts when I move about etc. Will see how I get on. Hope your ok.

Morning Nico, I feel like my incisions feel tighter/stiffer today, they’ve felt gradually more like this every morning, im hoping it’s from the incision healing… I also didn’t take any analgesia over night last night and woke up at 5am in more pain but feel when I’m not moving I do stiffen up… started to get a few tingles too so hopefully feeling/nerves are repairing xx

The nurse phoned me yesterday and she said the pain I was describing was incision healing so that’s a good sign!

Hi Sammi Jo, just your normal heartrate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, temperature etc. No I didn’t have any bloods taken, only the two MRSA swabs, so a swab in your nostril and then one along your groin (knicker line region), most private hospitals request to have your mrsa status before admission xx

I am 4dpo today and the pain has settled down loads, I am only taking analgesia when I feel the pain coming on/or before bed so I can sleep. I can mobilise almost fully now in regards to getting up and down using my stomach muscles etc. Have stated to get weird tingling and vibration like sensations now, which I’ve heard are a normal sign of muscle spams and nerve repairing. My stomach bloating has gone down too 🙂 xx
