Hello thought I would share my op day story with everyone who is interested in hearing it.

My admission time was 11am at Mya Fitzroy in London. I got my admission time two days before in an email with details of what to expect.
I was told to bring a sports bra (I packed 3 different sizes and ended up wearing the Macom one they recommended in the consultation as its cup size adapts to the swelling)
I also couldn’t eat 6 hours before op so I got up at 4.45am and at some breakfast as I feel sick/weak if I don’t eat in the morning and it was going to be a long day without food.

I hardly slept a wink that night and the car journey to Mya was awful. My boyfriend and I were both so nervous. I have never had an op or general anaesthetic before so was convinced I might not wake up!
I arrived the surgery at exactly 11am and was shown up to my room a few minutes later.
The nurse gave me my gown, compression stocking and pregnancy test kit and did a few tests (blood pressure and temperature). I had gotten changed and Dr Marcellino came in and drew on me, took some pics and took me through some paperwork. He then told me ‘you are next into surgery’
I was taken down to surgery at 11.30am. I had barely anytime to get settled into my room. I was expecting to have to wait a few hours but I’m so glad I was taken to surgery quickly so I wasn’t sitting there getting more nervous for too long.

I woke up around 1pm and they took me back up to my room and brought my boyfriend back in. I was determined to stay awake until he came back into the room because I wanted him to see I was ok but turned out that wasn’t a problem because I wasn’t tired at all. I stayed awake the rest of the time I was in the hospital. I felt no pain just tightness/discomfort in my chest.
The nurse came in several times and took my blood pressure as it was much lower than when it was pre op.
He told me. After 1 hour I could have food and would have drains removed after 3 hours and would be discharged after 4.

I got waves of sickness and threw up a couple times over the next few hours. Which isn’t as bad as it sounds because I hadn’t eaten anything so there wasn’t much to throw up.

I got some toast to eat after an hour but sadly threw it back up again … But I generally felt fine after the surgery. I got discharged at 5.30pm and my boyfriend drove me home. This was the worst part of the day. I think the movement made my sickness worse. Fortunately I read in the forum that it’s useful to bring sick bags for the car journey home so I was prepared. BEST PIECE OF ADVICE EVER as I threw up several times in the 45’min journey.

I got home felt better. Got a take away chicken burger from GBK as I was starving!!! And I also wanted a great because I’m planning on eating completely clean for the rest of my post op. I managed to keep the burger down. And now I’m just trying to rest. I’m finding it difficult to sleep but still no real issues with pain.

Can’t believe how quickly the day went. It was no where near as bad as what I was expecting.

I was 34B and got 275cc overs. Hoping to go to a D or DD. Nothing to big. Can’t wait for this week to be over and to get this strapping off!!
