We are delighted with Sir Bruce Keogh and his committees Review of the Regulation of Cosmetic Interventions. We already adopt most of the 46 recommendations and look forward to working with any working party to make the remainder a reality.
John Ryan MYA’s Chairman commented “I have been in the cosmetic surgery business since the 1970’s and this is a watershed moment. All credible parties need to work together to keep up momentum to turn the recommendations into reality. MYA will make available resources to assist with this. I would like the UK to be seen as the safest provider of cosmetic surgery in the world and for MYA to set the standard in terms of the quality of surgical results, transparency of information and the quality of patient care and experience. We are the only major cosmetic surgery provider in the UK who has an online forum (www.mya.co.uk/mya-space) and links each of our clinics website pages to the Care Quality Commission website. This allows prospective patients access directly to the CQC assessment report. Our next phase is to publish data around the number and type of procedures that we carry out and any revision and complication rates involved as we are confident that the quality of our offering is exceptional. We will not wait for the government to implement this action we will take a direct lead as data transparency is key to driving up standards in the industry”.
