I haven’t seen my surgeon yet but told I will be having mentors? Confused on what is the difference?x
??
I was given the choice of CUI or Mentor and, after doing my research, chose Mentor as they are the absolute best on the market (which was also reitterated bu my surgeon). CUI implants are made by a very reputable company (Allergan) but they are basically their budget implant. MYA seem to push CUIs because they are able to offer a much more competitive price with these, but I personally thought it was worth the extra £ when it’s going inside my body and I want it to last for as long as possible. Naturelles would have been my second choice as they are the next ‘best’ option. I spoke to a Spire surgeon who used to use Natrelles until he discovered Mentors and now swears by them because they don’t have the same issues with encapsulation as he was finding with the Natrelles, thanks to their improved coating (he was, however, charging £100 for a consultation and almost £2000 more for the BA! MYA are awesome!) I’m surprised they didn’t give you a choice of implants, but be rest assured that they’re offering you the very best available. I considered my implant ‘upgrade’ as free since I was given a £ discount for taking an early slot anyway.
I’ve really oversimplified it all here but there’s tonnes of information on the Internet, or your PC and/or surgeon will be able to explain the technical differences between the implants. Hope that helps xx
Mentors are the new implant being used by MYA and are a little more expensive than the naturelle which have been around for a while, then cui are the oldest and the cheapest. Hope that helps 🙂 x
I had CUI not sure what the difference is. My PC had CUI so of it was good enough for her it’s good enough for me x
I might ring my PC tomorrow and ask about mentors. I don’t mind paying a bit more to get the best product !
@Lisa, I would if I were you! They’ve only just started offering them in the last couple of weeks so I didn’t know it was an option until my surgeon said so at my consultation (it hadn’t been an option when I first met my PC 2 wks prior). I didn’t want to pay Spire’s prices so was going to compromise with Natrelles and then Mr Kazzazi said he was now using Mentors instead and I was thrilled! I knew then that I was in the right hands and MYA was the best company to use x
I looked into spire too and when they quoted me the basic implants and least expensive surgeon..was shocked when it was nearly double :O! I never got a choice but glad now I know they are suppose to be the best 🙂 x
I met with Mr Traynor the week before MYA started using mentor so will speak to my PC and see if I can get another consultation. Think I would like to speak surgeon about it rather than just PC. Got a month til my op so plenty of time to research x
Hey Girls had my consultation last week my PC is brilliant she told me they are now using mentor implants apparently best on Market they also use these implants for serious recontruction surgerys and cancer patients so best of the best I think
I’ve just got so confused reading this! I was told mya only did two types: naterelles and CUI but on my paperwork it says I’m having 450cc mentor…I just assumed mentor wee the company that made them and naterelles and CUI were like the type…can anyone help me?? I’m so confused now, are the prices different ? Are they better? Oh gosh!! Lol xx
Hi Barley, MYA did only offer CUI
and Natrelles until about 3 weeks ago, but Mentor blow these out of the water. They do cost about £400 more than the CUIs, though, although money well spent in my opinion. Have a look at my earlier post^^^^^^^^^ and speak to your PC xx
I looked on the mentor website and depending on which type MYA are using I might change. I’m off work tomorrow and going to ring my PC and ask to see Mr Traynor about it. Hi Barley, mentor is it’s own thing. Natrelle and cui are Allergan as far as I know x
