Nipples are in agony

I had my dressings off yesterday (which felt amazing) and the nurse said all is fine which was reassuring. The incisions look really neat so I’m made up there. Still dead swollen boobwise though 🙁

I’m having an absolute nightmare with my nipples. The bit around them feels so swollen like it has been stretched (and they were already massive haha!) and the nipple itself feels like it’s chafing against the bra fabric. My Macom was killing me so got an Asda one on now but it’s still killing. Has anyone else had any problems? Wondering if it would be okay to leave my bra off for an hour or so and sit with nothing against them. I’ve tried moisturising them with the intensive blue Nivea cream and tried shoving a cotton wool pad down my bra to ease the discomfort but nothing is working. Any advice from fellow nipple discomfort sufferers?

I’ve read about the sunburn sensation on nipples after the op and wondering if that’s what it is. How long will this last? I don’t think I’ll cope for another 5 weeks!

Me !!!that bad on Sunday I could have cried x I went to asda bought cracked nipple cream for breast feeding it’s almost like Vaseline just put it on my nipples no where else and bought a box of breast pads x so much better and I’ve been leaving my bra off a bit too to the let the air get to them x it’s the worst joggers nipple I’ve ever had lol x I feel your pain xx I’m two weeks post op mentioned it yesterday to the nurse and she didn’t say I couldn’t xx

I was just going say try some breast feeding cream, sounds similar to how I felt after kids I can’t comment on how it feels after BA, if that fails an ice cube is nice to put on them I loved doing that when I felt sore or burning.

Ahh Emma – I feel your pain. Has yours eased off a bit now? I can’t see any harm in letting the air get to them. As long as I’m only sat down I won’t be doing any damage to myself. So painful though. My nipples want to be free haha xx

I will try getting some ice and nipple cream and see if that helps, thanks both! Hopefully they’ll start to accept the bra isn’t going anywhere for a while.xx

They are much better than they were Robyn not as red it advises you use the cream before each breast feeding session so I’ve been putting it on every four hours lol xthink the breast pads are helping as well as they are very soft think they were a pound for 48 from asda and the nipple cream was on offer for £3 so up to now the best £4 I’ve spent xx I know it can take up to six weeks for your nipples to settle down from being permanently erect xx think it’s a good sign they are sore though don’t think we need to worry about losing sensitivity in them x
