Hi, I know I got told in my pre op to remove all metal piercings but I was just wondering if I could put plastic ones in my nose?

No I don’t think you can unfortunately. I just took mine out just before my op and then put it straight back in after x

    Hi Abi,

I took out NEARLY all of mine, I had tape over all my dermals & surface ones though. I explained to the nurse that they were a nightmare to remove. I took my tongue piercing out but put it straight back in after the op, the anaesthetic didn’t seem to effect me much & was only down an hour so not enough time to heal

I had my opp last week and the only one I was allowed to keep in was my (plastic) nose ring. Had to take my lip/ears and belly bar out even tho they were al plastic too. You’ll get a decent one off eBay for a couple of quid

check with your surgeon as they all allow different things. Nose/ lip/ tongue should be removed completely due to choking risk while under anaesthetic. Belly and ears should be fine with a plastic retainer. Nipples obviously should come out.
Some surgeons though want everything out, even the plastic retainers.

I put plastic ones in and was made to take them out on the day but my nurse said a month before she’d been allowed to keep them in so might depend on the Dr
