I hate needles, it makes me all lightheaded so I’m dreading having my cannula put in :'(
I know that they can put a numbing cream on the hand for children, but not sure if they do it for adults? Lol
I really am dreading this part , has anyone had the cream?
I feel the exact same as you, I haven’t had my surgery yet and the only thing I’m dreading is the canula xx
Exactly, I’m not worried about anything else, it’s just that
I’m sure I can ask them as I’m obviously not the only person who is scared of it haha
They can put emla cream on. Or you can buy it yourself from a chemist.
I know that they can give you some of the gas through the mask in the anaesthetic room before they put you to sleep and then do the cannula for people who are really scared so your not as aware of it.
But honestly its just a sharp scratch and over with in 3 seconds xx
Thanks Jessica that’s a great help 🙂 I’ll ask them for that then
I’d rather have it as it makes me feel horrible when I know I’ve gotta have a needle , it’s not solely the feel of it, it’s the idea of it also 🙁
I am a wimp when it comes to needles literally cry an i didnt feel this go in its so tiny. The tube you see is not what goes inside you an the thing that does is like thin plastic. You will not feel it lol do nit worry girls, i didnt notice they even put it in they distract you too xx
I dont like needles either .. but I just chatted to the nurse and made a point of not looking at what was going on so didnt see or feel it going in or coming out x
I had the cream Hun. I was so worried I hate needles! But honestly I didnt feel a thing xxx
Iv been told that the canula goes in the side of your wrist, id much prefer it in my hand xx
I have had cannulas alot before, i just talk to the nurse and ask the anesthetest not to tell me when they are going in it makes me worse when they say slight scratch as you then tense up. X
Hey hun I also hate needles and was concerned by this. I asked for the cream but had left it too late for it to have worked and tbh I was so nervous and happy at the same time I was totally distracted and it honestly didn’t hurt one bit. Even when it was removed. I was more frightened when I had to walk into theatre and lay on the bed seeing all the equipment and smelling the seriously clean room I nearly did a runner!
Hey iv got my surgery tomorrow and I’m the biggest wimp! I also have very small veins last time I had to have one put in it took 3 different nurses and kept falling out so I’m bricking it! Hopefully they’ll be able to use the cream or gas us first like the other girls have said! I’m gonna talk to my anaesthetist first and tell them my worries.
When’s your surgery Hollie? Xx
@jessbenny
Ahh I’m jealous you’ve got yours tomorrow 🙂 yes same here! Tuesday I had my bloods done and she had to do it in each arm before she got any blood ! :O
Yes I’m going to ask for the cream and gas for sure!!
Mines on 25th Feb so 2 weeks pretty much ! Can’t wait 😀
Oh gosh I feel your pain!
It’s literally come around so quick I booked it in November and have had a countdown on my phone haha. 2 weeks will fly by for you 🙂 xx
Lol glad someone is as bad as me :’)
I’d booked mine in November and then was supposed to be done on 10th Dec! But got my MRSA back and it was positive :'( cause I’m a student nurse, so I got rid of it, and had them re-done 2 days ago and heard back today that I’m all clear!! 😀 but it has gone really quick for me as well! I thought 2.5 months would drag but it’s flown by!
I’ve also got a countdown and I’m so excited, can’t wait for it to be over! Haha
