Hi I saw the nurse after seeing my surgeon last week an she never done a blood test does anyone know if it’s something you have to have done? Thanks x

I didnt have blood test just MRSA swabs when i went for my pre-op last week

Ahh thank you, do you only get a call if you have MRSA? My op is on the 9th December

I only had a blood test to test for sickle cell as I’m mixed race, otherwise I don’t think they do one x

Not everyone has a blood test i needed one to test if I had sickle cell as I have Caribbean background. They usually only do a blood test if they need results for something that the doctor hasn’t given or could be a problem -e.g: sickle cell, iron defiancy etc I’d just ask why they want it – it could be nothing and just as case that clinic likes to do all checks x

They do blood test also if you have recently been ill to see if you are still ill
And yes they only contact you if you do have MRSA
