OP Cancelled with 4 days to go – I’m gutted

My operation has been cancelled by my surgeon even after I have provided a letter from my GP stating I am well.
I take 50mg sertraline for anxiety (my doctor also confirmed this), stating I am doing well and the medication is helping with my symptoms.
I also had voluntary private CBT MONTHS!! ago (as It came free with work) and my therapist (rightly so in my opinion) has opted not to give the surgeon any information as she doesnt feel like It fits into her job description – she isnt a psychiatrist.

I feel honestly really let down that they could do this to me so last minute. I have asymmetrical breasts that I want to fix and feel confident. I am in a good place and feel honestly a little discriminated against that they would suggest I need to see a psychiatrist for being on 50mg sertraline for anxiety.
If my GP had any worries, she would have refused to write them a letter, or she would have stated her worries.

Can anyone help me secure this operation? 🙁

They need to know from a psychiatrist to know that nothing from the operation could deteriorate your mental health and to be 100% sure you’re of sound mind to make such a big decision.
I was on sertraline 12 years ago for only 6 months and had multiple therapy more than 10 years ago and they still wanted a doctors letter and a psychiatric appointment, the surgeon can provide the appointment with them, it costs £100. Without it, its unlikely they will perform surgery, with it you’re only facing a delay (unless of course you’re deemed mentally unfit)

Its not discrimination, its doing what’s best for you and your future aswell as preventing a future law suit if it later came out that you were too mentally unwell and the surgery effected your health more so x

Hi, this has really worried! I had my consultation yesterday and was planning on going ahead in august/September, im on fluoxetine so I feel like this is now going to be something I’m going to have to go through as well! 🙁
When you met with your surgeon and provided your medical records was this not brought up at all?

Hi no I haven’t, I went with a different provider as I felt they treated me unfairly and played with my emotions. Now I’ve got my consultation this Tuesday and hopefully booking for my op in two weeks

was sue to have my BA this sunday 19th november 19th…. surgeon has been taken to hospital so they’ve cancelled me with 3 days to go! i am sooo upset 🙁 i’ve mentally prepped for my first surgery and now i’m getting all superstitious thinking it’s not meant to be so much so that i don’t knwo if i can now when they reschedule go ahead with it the operation. am i entitled to my money bacn as they’ve cancelled me ?
